When the Cowboys lost Awuzie I shrugged. Lewis was the corner I wanted them to keep since he's played at a high level before 2020. Awuzie could never stay healthy long enough to get a clear answer about him.

Draft a starting corner to play opposite Trevon Diggs; put Lewis in the slot, and if Maurice Canady can be the 4th corner the Cowboys might be able to do something with Anthony Brown (cut or trade?). Not sure what the cap number with Brown would be though.

Interesting point about moving Brown, but he didn't show much last year to make him an attractive target.

The defense last year was such a mess under Nolan I tend to throw all the results out the window. Brown has experience both in the slot and as a boundary corner to at least maybe get a day two pick in the draft for in a trade. Or Dallas can just keep him for more depth.

Dallas play a whole lot of 4-2-5 nickel, he is really a starter.

It's reasonable to think Brown was held back in performance by the DC. But it's also reasonable to think he just wasn't very good. In trade interest, teams will be weighing both possibilities.

Well, Lewis may not be better than Awuzie; but their careers have at least been comparable and the Cowboys are paying $6 million less for Lewis than the Bengals are paying Awuzie.

New coach must like him for that money and so early in free agency. Normally we'd let him twist in the wind and hope he got little interest.

I wonder, too, if Jerry knows about the impending tv contracts, knows they will be a big jump, and is pricing a little of that into his offers.
