Cowboys reach 2yr deal w/ LB Jasper Brinkley

this ofseason is a disaster lose your heart of the team and no help on defense

I understand trying to be conservative with the salary cap, but dam..............you can go overboard in the opposite direction as well.

I just don't get this scrooge strategy when we were one botched call away from the NFCCG. Its just seems to me that the team has gotten worse, not better and that the draft is not going to be enough to overcome our losses.

So when we see progress in a system that is working, we should then stop what was working and go back to what didn't? Makes no sense. Yeah, let's go back to major cash spending just to keep up with the Joneses of the NFL.

12-4 last season. Now we're just getting cute. Let's reverse coarse.

I get it.............the organization thinks it was totally the offensive line for Murray.............what if it wasn't? What if McFadden and whatever rookie we draft struggle to run the ball?

If we miss the playoffs this year due to our running game not producing to last year's level..............a lot of questions are going to be asked about this strategy.

Murray led the league in YDS before contact. The line was a big part of his success.

I understand they are not "going to get caught up in the windfall"..................I am questioning the strategy. Letting a mass exodus of players walk out the door and you replace them with either JAGs or rookies may not be the best strategy to go by.

I guess time will tell............if we miss the playoffs this year, there is going to be a hell of a lot of second guessing going on, especially about letting Murray leave. After all, as Bill Parcells once said, "this is a results oriented business".

is that a joke. I never wanted Manziel. I have also been supporter of Romo over past few years. But I do think its time to start thinking about his replacement.

Ok
I do agree . Next year might be the better year, IMO.

I don't think you approach it that way. Where you say, okay...now it's convenient to find the next QB. It's so hard to find a franchise QB as it is, to think it's going to happen on your schedule is foolish. You take one when you can get one.

I agree.
I deleted the part where I said I don't see anyone I'm crazy about this year.
Maybe they do.

If they get to that point in the draft and a guy is sitting there that they feel can boot one of backups off the team and maybe be a starter someday--and they prefer him over all other players at all other positions in that spot--sure. Go for it.

Funny thing...if or when the Cowboys do draft a QB, I bet Romo will be a big part of the decision, as he should.

He knows what it takes to come from a nobody. And! He is not in rehab!

Would not remotely shock me if he's playing good ball still in the 2019 season.

I have been doing a lot of reading and watching what I could find of college and pro. I won't say bringing in Brinkley means no McClain, but I will say this guy could be a very very good signing for us. He may only be a two down guy, but he definitely gives us versatility as far as moving Lee. If Hitchens continues to improve, I would be happy with a starting lineup of Lee-Hitchens-Brinkley, with Hitchens and Lee playing nickle.

Brinkley is an absolute thumper too.

does anybody have a good breakdown of all the deals we have signed so far

It's mostly just this:

No joke (and no big deal really either way).

Anyway, I got it from several places...

To a lessor degree from when the Dez/Manziel photo was posted...you said:

"Do you know how much fun it would be to have those two (Manziel and Dez) teaming up"

I wasn't making things up

it's old news though
