I was told it was for DEPTH and not to panic. After all, the pieces for a championship are in place you know!!!

Feels like we're getting too cute. It worked with durant it's gotta work again. I feel like at this point were buying too much into our system and think we can just plug anyone in and it'll work. I hope there's more signings to come but these bargain basement deals have me worried. For our sake I hope they work again.

The thread is crazy long so probbaly already suggested but this is likely to buy time at MLB while McClain is on suspension.

Brinkley and Rivers are basically 3rd and 4th type backers at best.
But they do give us some depth and we've needed that at LB every year.
If the eventual starters are Lee, Ro and Hitchens with Brinkley, rivers and Wilber as your 4-6 that is a pretty salty group.

When did I say he was? Lol Just merely implying that Rod has a say in who is being added to this defense.

When I say jerry trolling hard do you think I think he makes all the decisions for this team. Just a saying

So when we see progress in a system that is working, we should then stop what was working and go back to what didn't? Makes no sense. Yeah, let's go back to major cash spending just to keep up with the Joneses of the NFL.

12-4 last season. Now we're just getting cute. Let's reverse coarse.

Just cuz it worked once after a decade of mediocrity and people forget. I'm not saying spend big I'm just saying sign more players with upside instead of jasper Brinkley and Darren McFadden

I remember when I thought like you. I thought if we were signing players, at least we were trying. Just doesn't work that way. Those recent Steeler Super Bowls weren't achieved thru FA. Rarely did they sign anyone. It was the draft that they built their empire upon. Looks like we're being smart and getting (FA) value at a lower cost, like last year.

It's a process. Enjoy the journey my friend.

That is probably my major concern. I don't mind depth signings, because injuries in the past show that we need to build up our depth. If we're signing these players as starting answers because we believe the system will make them better than they've been, then I think we're fooling ourselves.

A lot of the guys that helped us get to 12-4 last year, durant, so far rolando, Murray we've lost. Free agency isn't everything but it'd be nice to pick up a couple of upside free agents as backup in case the draft doesn't pan out. Right now we've lost more than we've picked up. Hope we have one helluva draft.

Free agency is not even a week old. So the first handful of days is all that matters? There are two phases of FA. Now, and in June.

The longer you go chances are upside players available are going to be gone. You're right, still soon, not the end of the world. Just what I'm seeing so far isn't anything to be excited about. Lost way more than jasper Brinkley and Darren McFadden can make me feel optimistic. Especially when mike fisher is on the radio saying McFadden could pretty much be cut in camp and its a kick the tires deal

I hear ya. I'll reserve judgment after the first 5 games of the season.

After some research, this one feels like a 1-for-1 for Bruce Carter or Justin Durant. Probably more consistent than Carter.
