Wow! That is a big stretch to go for me saying Randle is not a "third-down" back to all of that you just spewed there. The fact is neither he nor Murray were on the field too often on third-down last year. I didn't disagree with the term "scatback", as you evidently thought I did... Just the "third-down" characterization.

As for the rest of your little diatribe, just be careful about throwing the word "you" around. I couldn't care less about the front office being right or not. FWIW, I agree with them with regards to paying DeMarco (or any running back not named Adrian Peterson) $8m per season - especially coming off of a near-400 carry season. Judging from his struggles in Philadelphia, it's looking like the front office WAS right in that regard.

I WAS on the bandwagon that wanted a back in the draft, too. When that didn't happen, however, my desire was for Randle/McFadden/Dunbar to be effective. Not to vindicate the front office, but rather, because an effective running game gives the Cowboys the best chance to be successful successful of the season I have the same hopes for Michael. If he can solidify the Cowboys running game...outstanding! Who cares if the front office was right or not?

I'd rather the Cowboys win. You'd rather say "I told you so".

I read your little diatribe too and will simply say I share your desire to win.... Not say I told you so. If you or anyone here can find a self made gloating "I told you so" thread anywhere on here in my extensive history on the board, I will gladly bake you some cookies.

Gloating I told you so threads are so boring. I don't even click them. It is and always will be about the Ws.

That not the same. I'm talking about making a thread to gloat over being right. I may take a strong position on many things but creating a look at me thread is not in the inventory. I have been on the right & wrong side of numerous things but it stops at going that far to make sure every one knows I "guessed" right.

Oh btw, TO is available. :D

Neither the RB's nor the O-line are to blame for not having good rushing numbers. Murray played behind all these guys during their entire but short careers until this season.

Its not easy for a squad to aclimate itself to a different running style, pace, speed, or tendencies.

Randle is what he is, a change of pace good for ten carries max. As a starter he was misused.

Maybe Michael works out, maybe not. The Cowboys just need to keep the search alive until the right guy comes along.

I really don't understand why so many people are infatuated with a guy that wasn't good enough to take away carries from Turbin.

Turbin was there first.

That is the gist of it. Turbin and CMichael could have swapped roles and CMike would have 40 more carries. Not a big deal.
Neither one was supplanting Beast Mode.

They overdrafted the position not knowing which Lynch would show up. After the SB and the birth of Beast Mode it was clear.

At least they got something for CMike after beating us to Rawls.

I still don't know why Rawls would choose the Seahawks over the Cowboys assuming those reports are true.

They have an established RB and the Cowboys don't.

Maybe because they gave Lynch 12m a year and we rode Murray into the ground before offering 4m a year.

Agents keep track of those things, especially for UDFAs who rely on their second contract for any serious money.

Starters get more in free agency. He had the best chance to make the team and become a starter with the Cowboys.

Well he already started a game and ran for 169 yards, so thats that.

One organization rewarded the hard work of their workhorse RB and the other ran them straight out of town.

I am not confident he will much better than Randle, its tough to run against against an 8-9 box every time and Linehan is showing why he was run out of Detroit.

Cowboys ready to take reins off Christine Michael

The Cowboys acquired Christine Michael from the Seahawks on Sept. 6 and are finally ready to "take the reins off him and let him rock," said running backs coach Gary Brown. Derick E. Hingle/USA TODAY Sports

Todd Archer, ESPN Staff Writer

IRVING, Texas -- On Wednesday, Jason Garrett announced changes at quarterback (from Brandon Weeden to Matt Cassel) and left guard (from Ronald Leary to La’el Collins). He wasn’t ready to announce any change at the running back spot.

While Joseph Randle might remain the starter, it’s clear Christine Michael will get more opportunities when the Cowboys play the New York Giants on Oct. 25.

The Cowboys acquired Michael from the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 6. He was inactive for the first three games as he learned the offense, and got one carry in each of the last two losses to the New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots.

“I think he’s where he needs to be, and we want to take the reins off him and let him rock,” running backs coach Gary Brown said.

At 5-foot-10 and 221 pounds, Michael is bigger than Randle and Darren McFadden. His size can help the offensive line.
