RELEASED Cowboys Release DE Damontre Moore

For one, seven weeks into the season isn't enough to evaluate an entire off-season's effectiveness. But instant gratification being what it is, I guess some folks can't control themselves. Let's see what the draft picks become before we rush to judgment.

When you had to cut two of your "top" FA signings 7 games into the season and your other big signing was an oft injured DT who retired and you start 3-3......... yeah, I don't think it's a stretch to suggest the offseason wasn't the best.

You realize all 32 teams get to draft?

Why do fans here act like the draft is some secret that only the Cowboys know about or that we are somewhat significantly better than everyone else at it?

Part of the apologist lifestyle many here have adopted. I liked it when we were competing for championships. When do we get there again?

So you would have had them re-sign the guys that were just ok last year and called it good?

Yes, because that was their only option. Only sign back the players like Carr, Claiborne, McClain, etc.

The front office apologists can't even debate in good faith anymore.

All of our handy dandy cheap free agents are gone and the season is not even half over.

All hail McClay?

Stephen is not giving him any money to work with. This is nothing but Dollar Store shopping that McClay has to work with.

I"m sorry that you think FA can fix what ails this team. I disagree. So does the FO.

It's sad to see that some fans can't understand the strategy that is going away from signing other teams' castoffs and trying to build through the draft. I mean, almost every other SB winning team in the past 20 years has done it that way, but it must be a crappy strategy.

He and Mayowa definitely broke some team rules for both of them to have been inactive vs Niners

There has to be more to the story we don't know, there were at least four others that were a more obvious choice to cut. Wait a day or two and look for the whispers to show up on Twitter.

This off-season may go down as one of the worst mishandling's in Front Office history. We did not do much at all to improve on a 13-3 team.

Nothing it does not even come close to the 2008 and 2009 off-season. I get what you're saying though. Just like then, they get complacent. It's more of the "one piece away" homeristic mentality of an owner overvaluing his own players.

I'm sorry, why spend and waste the cap money then? Your reply has no logical sense at all about. Hey wait, are you part of the FO team? That's the only thing that would explain your reply!

Dallas must have liked what they saw on tape with Taco against 49ers.

You realize you can build through the draft and still sign a few key FAs above the 16 day old wilted lettuce level to fill key holes right?

It's not an either/or situation.

I'm missing all this wasted cap money you're complaining about. A couple million for Carroll in hopes he can be a starting level corner for a year or two is a decent bet. Didn't work out. Not a bid deal.

Free agency is a useful tool to fill in roster gaps. Not every draft is going to provide a bounty of talent.

When you go cheap and then whiff on every single one, the problem is not free agency. The problem is the fiscal approach and who is evaluating the talent to begin with.
