I'm sorry, why spend and waste the cap money then? Your reply has no logical sense at all about. Hey wait, are you part of the FO team? That's the only thing that would explain your reply!

Yes. Forget signing someone like Micah Hyde who would have solidified our secondary a bit for a few more million more than Carroll, who we have the great pleasure of having to use $2MM in cap space NEXT YEAR to not have him on the team.

The other kicker here is that look at a position like the 1 tech. They didn't even draft a legit prospect at the 1 tech. So it's not like you can argue they signed some bum just to play a few games until our hot, new, young 1 tech could take over.

They simply are cheap in FA. It's that simple.

You realize you can build through the draft and still sign a few key FAs above the 16 day old wilted lettuce level to fill key holes right?

It's not an either/or situation.
Like who? Carr? We tried that once. Claiborne? He never played a full season for us. Bouye? Never had a chance at him.

I'm missing all this wasted cap money you're complaining about. A couple million for Carroll in hopes he can be a starting level corner for a year or two is a decent bet. Didn't work out. Not a bid deal.

He eats up $2MM in cap space next year to not even play for us. Further, for a few million more, you could have gotten a better player who likely would be on the roster now and helping us.

Signing Carroll was a complete and total failure. And frankly, utterly predictable.

When you had to cut two of your "top" FA signings 7 games into the season and your other big signing was an oft injured DT who retired and you start 3-3......... yeah, I don't think it's a stretch to suggest the offseason wasn't the best.
**** happens!

Nothing it does not even come close to the 2008 and 2009 off-season. I get what you're saying though. Just like then, they get complacent. It's more of the "one piece away" homeristic mentality of an owner overvaluing his own players.
You just contradicted yourself in the same sentence.

No, we drafted guys to replace them and needed bottom-of-the-barrel FA to fill in the gaps. Turns out our rookies are better than the bottom-of-the-barrel FA so we cut them and didn't cost us much. The Galloway and Roy Williams trades by themselves were way worse to this franchise.

Nice story, but no.

So we swung and missed on a $2million guy. The malfeasance! And are you certain we could have had Hyde? You cherry pick one guy who was a bargain-level FA who worked out for another team and I'm the one not arguing honestly?

Again, more dishonesty.

Maybe don't sign a CB? Instead, how about instead of paying Carroll $4MM. Find $2MM more and sign Hyde who is an infinitely better SS than Heath? Or maybe use that Carroll money and sign a real 1 tech? Or if you really want a CB, sign a guy like Patrick Robinson someone they were interested in the previous year, to a cheap one year deal like Philly did.

It's embarrassing that you think they basically only had the options in FA of either signing drek like Carroll and Moore or signing big name FAs like Bouye.

For one, seven weeks into the season isn't enough to evaluate an entire off-season's effectiveness. But instant gratification being what it is, I guess some folks can't control themselves. Let's see what the draft picks become before we rush to judgment.

How about all of the signings being off the team?

Does that show enough miscalculation?

Tell me about how the free agents they signed helped us this year? At what point does the FO get held accountable for these whiffs.

They signed Damontre Moore, Nolan Carroll, Robert Blanton, and Stephen Paea as free agents and none of them made it to the halfway point of the first season.

They can't keep taking these years for granted.

There wasn't much available in FA this year in my opinion. Sure, you can hold the FO accountable for the FA signings this year that didn't work out. But, also give the FO credit for not spending much on these average guys. Aslo, give the FO credit for drafting players which are better than the FAs. Taco is better than Moore, Jordan Lewis is much better than Carroll, and Awuzie and Woods much better than Carol' and Blanton. Paea was playing decent until his knee just gave way.

The good news is the only eyes they can cover are their own. Everyone else can see.

Because you say so? You really think this team signed Carroll, Paea and D Moore and said "now we're cooking with gas!" They knew those guys were stop-gaps at best, otherwise they'd still be on the team. When has this FO ever admitted to big mistakes so quickly? If anything, they double down on mistakes to try and be the smartest guy in the room - unless they didn't see these guys as super valuable to begin with.

Who knows if they could have had Hyde. They never tried. Because they were too busy shopping in the triple discount rack.

There are a lot of guys who signed team friendly contracts that could have helped this team. Poe signed for $8MM one year. We could have afforded that and our DT play would be infinitely better. Same with Bennie Logan, who signed for $7MM. Hyde is another name. Patrick Robinson. McCourty (not the S in NE). There are literally a dozen or so names that we could have signed that we passed on because they were too costly.

The front office stumbled this offseason. And the only reason they don't get a total F is because we think Lewis, Woods and maybe Awuzie can play.

We could have had Dontari Poe for 8 Mil. Can you imagine Lawrence-Poe-Collins-Irving?

Actually, I think that's absolutely what they thought. I think they thought they made some very, shrewd and under the radar signings that were going to pay off for them.

I mean if your explanation is they just signed scum and assumed they likely would be scum, that's an even worse indictment of the front office.

D Moore was involved in a fight 2 days before the game on Friday night. He was jumped by 3 dudes after initial confrontation.
