RELEASED Cowboys release James Washington

Yes, it gets posted multiple times because even a Breaking News thread still follow the ignore rules. If there were some way to put Breaking News in a special category, so that it displayed despite ignore preferences, Cowboyszone wouldn't have so many duplicate threads.
No doubt, and there are probably some things the board could do. Also good point about the ignore feature, I don't use it so I forget about it completely. If a mod moves a duplicate into the original thread that someone already had ignored does it show up at that point?

I would think as a general rule people need to know that a forum of this traffic you wont be anywhere close to first on posting an article from 3+ hours ago. That's really more so my pet peeve. I understand reposting a tweet from 15 minutes ago that you don't see posted. All that said, it's not my board either.

May as well have kept Wilson to be honest.

I'm not going to pretend I knew the cap situation in the offseason, but my guess is he was too expensive. That said, Washington seemed way too cheap to be legitimately relied on. Seems like there should have been a middle ground somewhere.

It’s always interesting looking back. This is what fans thought of the signing of James Washington. Most fans weren’t thrilled with the signing, however there were a few who were.

excellent signing.
big fan of james washington.
as an ou fan...im glad he's in the nfl.
excellent move.

Now we’re talking. This will help in September when Gallup is still on PUP.

Because they need a roster spot...

Of course

At the time I didn't realize he was on a one year deal and obviously the roster spot outweighs any other concern when you've got your clear WR3 (or maybe even WR2) with Hilton.

Save for pride, he's the easy decision for odd man out.

Ummmm, yes he did. His name is CeeDee Lamb.

Washington was never signed to be Coopers replacement.

yes haha that’s just such a hyperbolic stupid comment…..Washington was signed to be a 3rd/4th receiver. I also was against cooper trade but come on lol

We go from Cooper, Lamb, and Gallup to Cooper, Lamb, and Washington.

The addition of Washington in place of the subtraction of Cooper was a complete failure.

that’s not how this works lol. I agree with you that cooper being gone was a mistake but cooper wasn’t brought into replace cooper. Gallup was kept to be what ceedee was last year to cooper. Ceedee was expected and did perform as a wr1.

they messed up expecting Gallup to be able to bounce back from injury year 1 at a high level

Either they brought in Washington to replace Cooper or they brought in nobody to replace Cooper.

Both moves are equally dumb.

Ceedee or Gallup aren't new guys. They aren't replacements.

Both of those moves led to failure and a worse WR core.

they didn’t have to bring someone to replace cooper….they had him on the roster. What you’re saying is wrong. Your point is actually correct but you’re just not understanding their thought process. Coopers replacement was on the team we’ve seen that.

they didn’t have anyone to replace what lambs role was to coopers. Gallup couldn’t do that this year. And hard to say it led to failure- the teams 12-5 at worst with incredible offensive numbers though I don’t agree with letting cooper work

They did a great job of building a 13 and 4 team.

Are we better or worse without Coop? And if we had him, do we beat GB or Jax? Are Dak’s INTs partly a result of a lack of chemistry between him and his WR corps? Lots o lf sloppy routes bobbled balls etc…

Bottom line: trading Coop may have cost this team the #1 seed. You still feel like patting JJ on the back?

I would say this is a bad time to release him since he probably has the whole Cowboy play book in his head and another team that could face the Cowboys may pick him up just for the information, but since I've heard so many experts speak out about the Cowboy's vanilla playbook I'm not too worried that he could help another team beat the Boys. LOL..........

why release a player right now that a potential playoff opponent could pick-up and gain further insight into the offense?

I’ll wager that this bloke doesn’t even know the offense, so let him share his wisdom with opponents.

Washington looks like he had no idea what was going on. Dont think he is going to help anyone much.

Bad luck to get injured in the Spring, and then again at the end of training camp. No one at fault - just didn't work out.

- We relied on a cheap bargain based vet who was on the back of the depth chart roster with the Steelers,
and a 3rd rd pick rookie who simply never picked up the offense to help fill the WR roles while Gallop recovered
from an torn ACL (which he is still struggling to return to form) ...

- Thus the much hyped Beckham hunt (which of course failed as he himself is still recovered) ..and finally
the hunt and signing of T. Y. Hilton.

- i dunno how much they also thought super- raw project Simi Fehoko was also gonna factor before being a non-factor
and eventually on IR with a hip injury.

- If they are releasing a healthy James Washington, .simply means there's doubt and skepticism within the organization
that he is totally JAG. Nothing about him that could help them. and signature stamps that this was a failed plan.

- Losing Cedrick Wilson to FA
- Relying on Gallup with the ACL mend
- Busting on rookie Tolbert
- Dunno what the heck they expected of project Feheko
- Circus hunt with ACL mending OJB.
- Easily the only plus signs easily has been emergence of vet Hilton

I suspect that they are better without Coop because they didn't want him on the team and they were absolutely correct about Lamb and they got Hilton. They also got Gallup and a solid contribution from Brown. Overall they are doing very well. I don't see them being better than 13 and 4 with Cooper.
