Oh, without a doubt. Minnesota just gave up a first rounder for Sam fricking Bradford. But a fleecing like that requires that someone desperate come a knocking on our door.
I'd settle for half a fleecing :)

There was a lot of deferred money in the contract. When they defer money with no cap advantage, the only thing that makes sense is that they don't want him to get it all at once.
I don't remember reading about any deferred money in Dez's contract.

But you're right, I looked around and found some info regarding Bryant's $20M signing bonus.

Per Bleacher Report, I feel dirty for clicking a link to their site BTW, $7M of the bonus was deferred until this year, the remaining $13M was paid out last year.

Rumors were that they don't want him to be broke without a steady salary coming in.

Even though it would be his fault, they think he would try to hold out and demand more money if he did go broke. They're restructured in the past to give him more money because he was broke and in trouble for unpaid bills.
DAL gave Dez so much guaranteed money that they didn't want to add to any potential Dead Money with a restructure for a couple years......he is a prime candidate for one next year when his dead money will be manageable....they will add a couple voidable dummy years to extend the pro-ration

Same thing with Tony....they wanted to get thru this year without touching those 2 but the restructured everyone else

I have DAL at 10m under after signing Sanchez(2m) and restructuring Witten and picking up another 2.75m.....I don't see any crunch or tight spots
After subtracting the PS and a couple guys to the IR it looks to be around 8m when they get RMcClain's, Gregory and DLaw's money back

Yes, but the structure of the contract was odd with regards to deferrals. Deferrals are normally done when teams have cash flow issues. The Cowboys didn't gain cap space from the deferrals and may have actually had top pay a little more overall to get the agent to agree to the deferrals.

I need to pull up the contract details to show the exact deferrals and my post will make more sense.

Yes, this is one of the deferrals. IIRC, there were about 3 different methods that they used to defer money. I need to find the exact details of all of them to refresh my memory. on the specifics.

Still, they were on the hook for 32m after 2 years and 45m after 3....that is too much potential Dead Money for their comfort level....after this year it will down to 25m and they may consider a restructure ......next year they will restructure everyone
