From what I've seen, players drafted after the 65th pick rarely turn out to be anything significant.

Just started watching football, eh?

LOL, more than half the league was drafted after the 65th pick.

He was looking like a first round prospect until the new coaching staff took over in Nebraska. That stuff happens. Really like his quickness off the ball and he was well coached by Pelini.

Players drafted in the 3rd to 7th round rarely make any kind of impression in their careers..no point in expecting anything out of them.

Unless you're the Zone, then you should criticize the Cowboys for never finding value ever in rounds 3-7 while every other team is picking All-Pros with every single pick.

I was just looking at past drafts and realised that most players after round 3 were no names...We did get lucky in getting in a top corner like scandrick in the 4th.

Most of these players suck besides scandrick being a top corner and of course witten/romo.

Lawrence was a monster last year wonder if it's the roids that helped him.

Who is this guy?!

Lawrence reportedly failed a drug test for amphetamines and medications rather than marijuana. No "roids"

Jason Witten, 3rd round, 69th pick....but, no, don't use him as an example...there are more....find them....I bet you find there are more than a rarity.

He came first to my mind as well as Super Bowl MVP Harvey Martin, Cowboy record holder DeMarco Murray, 3 time Pro Bowlet Decter Coakley, 4 time Pro Bowler Erik Williams, 5 time Pro Bowler Mark Stepnoski, WR's Tony Hill and Butch Johnson, QB Danny White, and Charlie Waters.

As far as recent late round contributors, there has been Jay Ratliff, Patrick Crayton, Alan Ball, James Hanna, and Dwayne Harris.

Same here. I see a little Geno Atkins in him

Exactly the same guy I compare Collins too as well AND guess what? Geno was also a third round pick (iirc) w an identical scouting report along w/ very similar game tape coming outta college.

Soooo, based on these eerily similar comparisons between Geno Atkins (arguably a top 5 DT in the NFL when healthy) n LEEK Collins, lets just say that I'm now OFFICIALLY on the MaLEEK Collins hype-train.

Oh and you should all join me very soon 'cuz the HYPE-TRAIN BOUTA BE LEAVING THE STATION IN NO TIME!!!!

Let's see if he causes this to be Tyrone Crawford's last contract.

Rod has his new and improved Hayden...I sure hope he is right. Pulling for that DT we been missing. T. Crawford, Thornton, Collins, Irving in a rotation, and if T. McClain can stay healthy. It will be the best DT group we had in a long time.

I have no idea how Collins will play in the NFL but he is definitely the type of 3 tech Marinnelli covets and does have pass rush ability inside.

I wouldnt expect a 3rd round pick to start unless the team was rebuilding. However, I would expect a measurable contribution as a utility or rotational guy, at least some work on special teams. I would exoect the guy to realistically compete for a starting position in the near future.

I expect 1st round picks to start unless its QB on a good team. At the very least, they would get aignificant playing time under certain conditions like 3 WR set for WR or nickel for CB's or designated pass rusher for DE, etc.

I think it's your 6 round and 7 rounds that are long shots, they are usually backups and ST. Then again, they also have the ability to grow into a starter if the team got the right guy for their system.
