I'm a big fan of Collins. Especially after we signed Thornton. Collins and Day was the 2 DT I wanted most during the draft. Glad we got Collins.

I was a linebacker, but greater minds than mine, on a thorough building program by Rod Marrineli.

That said, the defensive line now boasts...Thornton, Crawford, and now, Collins. I am pretty interested in seeing how that nucleus develops through this season. Maybe they can start off by blowing the doors open in the first game against the New York Giants.

His ceiling is about as as it gets, fat guys just don't have the speed he has in the first few steps. Having said that, he is raw and needs a good amount of work. Give him a couple years in the system, and he might very well be a piece to build around.

Maybe to take over for Crawford @ 3 tech down the road? That's the only problem I have with calling him a "cornerstone player; JJ not you, etc." Crawford just got a new contract to be that guy so Collins would have to start over him or just be a great rotational player. Still like the pick because Crawford has been close to breaking out but hasn't quite gotten there yet as a great pass rusher (last year he was injured so will give him a pass there).

From what I've seen, players drafted after the 65th pick rarely turn out to be anything significant.

Jason Witten was drafted 69th.
Tony Romo was undrafted.
Cole Beasley was undrafted.
Doug Free was drafted in the fourth round.
Alfred Morris was drafted in the sixth round.
Lucky Whitehead was undrafted.
Terrence Williams was drafted after the 65th pick.
Brandon Carr was drafted after the 65th pick.
Orlando Scandrick was drafted after the 65th pick.
Cedric Thornton was undrafted.
Tyrone Crawford was drafted after the 65th pick.
Barry Church was undrafted.
Dan Bailey was undrafted.

Do you need the number of a good optometrist?

I see Dallas gave him a locker right next to his former roommate Randy Gregory. Hopefully, he'll be able to "reach" Gregory, since it's obvious that the organization can't.

Totally not true. Picks 1-66 usually make significant impacts. 67 and later...worthless. Where did we pick again?

That's a sound observation for deepest position ever in NFL Draft History. Dallas is one of about 20 smart picks who are sitting better at DT than pre-draft on the Dline. Getting Collins in the 3rd could be special, probably a top 5 DT in most Drafts at least.

The limited scheme flexibility and his underwhelming senior year really pushed down his stock. Truth is there's not a lot of team's looking a 3 Techs and he's not a fit as a NT or a 3-4 guy. That combined with the depth of the draft at DT really offers up the opportunity for him to be a steal. PFF, take it for what it's worth, had him mocked to Dallas in the second due to his scheme fit.

Am I the only one who watches Collins tape and see him get pushed around a ton? Not just occasionally, but routinely, every game

I like the pass rush, but I am not sold on the player.

"He's going to be a cornerstone player. I'm not ready to say starter. I won't go there."

Looks like we got ourselves one of those franchise altering backups.

Marinelli said it about Collins. You had to look at his 2014 game tapes to see what he was all about. The coaching scheme changed for
Nebraska in 2015 and he was asked to play a two-gap instead of one. Marinelli said this guy is exactly his prototype for the 3T position
and Collins in going to be a great one at beating the 1-gap. Not my words but his!!!
