Camp body, don't see him making the roster...................if he shows some flashes, he might make it to the practice squad

Very first play lets you know why Marinelli loves this guy. But I encourage anyone to watch the full 5 minutes. Dude is disruptive. Think we're selling him short with the Hayden comparisons.

What's going on in that last play - sack fumble recovery and the guy got tackled by another teammate. Crazy.

But yeah he looks good. He is a rush man. Expecting him to anchor may be a real challenge but I'm curious to see how he does.

Ivie Practice reports from Shrine Game

Mon:
Ivie displayed quickness on multiple occasions in the one-on-one drills and was also able to showcase his strength when moving upfield in the 11-on-11 period.

Tues: Ivie is continuing to play at a high level. He has very quick and violent hands when meeting a blocker. He was very fast off the ball, but, at times, a little out of control. His lower body strength was displayed thoughout the one-on-one drills, driving back multiple offensive linemen.

Wed: Ivie looked strong today and was violent throughout the 2-on-1 period. He had violent hands and was able to split a double team, as well as displaying his leg strength when he sat in a double team and didn’t move. He had some mental mistakes during positional drills but was impressive, overall.

Analysis: Ivie was the best out of all the defensive tackle prospects on the East squad. He is very fast rushing up the field and has a violent initial punch. He has a low pad level combined with great leg strength and good mobility. Overall, Ivie was able to impress, the past few days.

Ivie's younger brother Andrew Ivie was recruited and signed with the Gators but ended up getting a medical redshirt. I know Andrew was very talented and athletically gifted. My youngest son was a Junior and wrestled Andrew when he was a Senior and lost to him. Andrew ended up the runnerup for the state title that year at 285 lbs, losing to a Fargo National Champion in Greco Roman wrestling. Nice seeing someone we know make it to the big show.

I still really like this pick. Even if his only upside is becoming a good rotational player, that's a win. I think Rod can do some things with his rushing the passer ability, I think he shows a knack for getting lineman's hands off of him and lowering his shoulders. He has good technique coming out of college, and to be honest, that is more than I can say than some of the other DTs I see going in the second and third rounds.

I also don't see the Nick Hayden comparison outside of skin color and tats.

Well, Rod has his new Golden Cock regardless.
I think that he has a great chance to make the practice sqad this year and maybe his second year be a 1 tech tackle. hopefully he stays healthy and can play in all five preseason games. are there any clips against the better sec schools.

They said Rod was most giddy about this defensive prospect, SJ said this pick was a Rod special, only time will tell how it turns out either way.

He is already better than Hayden. He is quick with a strong upper body and good hand usage. He needs to get stronger in his lower body.

He has some tools, and he's supposedly super competitive.

He may not make the squad, but a well run team has these kinds of guys on their PS. Not only for possible future value, but for competition. Keeps all your depth playing hard when they see the PS guys super competitive and trying to take their jobs.

That's it.

The chances are the kid will be around for a year or two and then disappear when a fresh influx of dlinemen come onboard. But you never know. He could become a perfectly capable rotation player in a year or two.

He's got some juice, but E. Carolina's offensive line looks absolutely terrible.
