Anytime I see Rod that happy its usually for an underdog kid with a huge motor.
Lazy talented guys don't seem to be his thing.
Well that's it. Ratliff was a 7th rounder and I'm not going to riff on this kid for at least a season. Let's see where he's at after a year's experience and weight training under a pro-staff.
Which is why we never were going to draft McDowell early.Anytime I see Rod that happy its usually for an underdog kid with a huge motor.

Marrinelli just went ape over this guy on the draft cam. Looks like a quick twitch DL.

That would be the other pick, Carrell.short, quick & thick DTs is what McClay says makes Marinelli giddy. Lets see what he can do with him.
That's it.
The chances are the kid will be around for a year or two and then disappear when a fresh influx of dlinemen come onboard. But you never know. He could become a perfectly capable rotation player in a year or two.
I think Carrell was a Jim Jeffcoat call to Lett to come take a look. He said Lett was the only one who worked him out and during the draft only the Cowboys and Bills called about possibly joining as a UDFA.This pick has been getting a lot more praise than you'd expect.
I think he makes the roster. Carrell doesn't.
The exact things said about Ivie were said about Ratliff
No coach in any sport likes lazy players, talented or untalented.

Ratliff had the tweener label. Was he a DE or a DT or neither?
Nobody's wondering whether Ivie is a natural DE.
A player with high physical traits that good coaching could develop into something.
I actually like this pick. Something tells me he's going to be a junkyard dog type of fan favorite backup.
