That's. a very nice trade. Was it the Jets original pick in the 5th? If so that was a huge coup for us. We move from the bottom of the 6th to the top of the fifth for a late 5th next year?

Its actually better than that, we get to the top of the 6th in this years draft for a 5th round pick in next years draft that should be late in the round.

And we should have two 4th round comp picks plus at least one comp pick at the end of the 5th round so we won't miss out on a player we want in that area of the draft.

One thing to remember about Xavier is that, while having a national top 10 offense each year, Louisiana Tech has had a terrrrrible defense for the last two years now. Vernon Butler was a first round pick to Carolina last year and Kentrell Brice (who lit up Beasley in the playoff game) is OK, other than that the defense was devoid of talent. So when you hear that he gave up big plays, he was probably covering for someone else.

BOOM. Jerry and co pull the trigger and trade up to get our newest Safety. We traded next year's 5th rounder to the Jets to move up. Worth it imo. Woods was a 4th round talent who slipped.

Completely revamping our Secondary in one draft. Wild. Great move though. Cowboys are killing it this draft imo.

I don't know. I saw a lot of bad angles and he doesn't seem to have good instincts. Just kind of there.

He was still there in the 6th. So they didn't take him in the 4th hoping he would drop, and he did. When he was still within reach, Stephen and Jerry made the trade to jump 20 spots and grab him?

This front office is nothing like what we were used to seeing for years. Just back in 2014 we wasted our last 4 picks. Not THIS year....

So Anthony Brown can't play and was a waste of a 6th round pick.

See how that works?

Reading would be your friend here. I'm not saying Woods can't be a quality player. I'm simply commenting on this idea that he fell and that we were missing out by not grabbing him earlier. He was picked where he should have been and we'll see how he develops.

I couldn't believe that he fell that far. I wanted him in the 4th and he lasted that long to the 6th. unbelievable draft overall and this kid made it even better. stoked for this season even more now

Just In Time

Not long after the Cowboys saw one of their top players get picked right before them, they were able to do the same to the Panthers in the sixth round.

Jerry Jones and his crew picked the exact right spot to trade into the sixth round to get Woods.

“We were told a little bit later that the very next team was going to take him,” Jones said, referring to Carolina. “We called (the Jets) when they were on the clock and made that deal. It worked out well.”

The Cowboys traded next year’s fifth-round pick to land the sixth to get Woods.

Back in the fourth, the Cowboys had a tough debate going on in the War Room between Donnell Pumphrey and Ryan Switzer. But when the Eagles traded up to get Pumphrey, Jones said it was more relief than frustration.

“It was like they made our decision for us,” Jones said. “We had a good debate there. So they helped us out. We really liked both players.”

His sense of timing, angles, and space is excellent. The NFL is two orders of speed higher but I like what I have seen so far.

In fairness, it was a different roster back then. They needed immediate contributors and it was a better bet to gamble on guys with character question or small school background in hopes you got someone who would make the 53.

Now they have plenty of candidates for the roster, its a better bet to take guys like Ivie or Noah Brown (or Rico Gathers) that are earmarked for the Practice Squad.
