What a draft...
I have a feeling that this is going to be the norm for us going forward.
*****feeling excited*****
What a draft...
What is that guy talking about? Lack of discipline? He has SEC or Big 10 Instincts and ball skills though. Those you either have or you don't.
He may never be fast but his size is adequate and discipline and big time experience will come quickly.
Lord knows those instincts for the spot and football acumen can give a guy with average speed a couple of tenths of a second in splay speed.

I think he'll have a hard time beating Heath out, frankly. However, I wouldn't put much past this kid.
He probably is a special teamer and part time player as a rookie, if I had to guess. Whenever he's on the field he's going to add a ton of football IQ to the equation though.
There's.... There's gotta be better ways to express your excitement.
He needs to play with a lot more disciple, both in the run and pass. He have up some big plays last yearI think he's a bit more polished...
Here's his breakdown according to "Ourlads":
"Durable and dependable safety is what the NFL is looking for to play in sub packages. The instinctive and football smart athlete can play both deep safety and down in the box. Also was used at times to match up in the slot. Good initial movement with quick shuffle read steps. Does a nice job working downhill and takes on and sheds blockers with his strong hands. Solid defender in short zones. Sticks his foot in the ground and drives on the ball. Quick transition with little wasted movement. Shows good deep zone range to get over the top and undercut a down the field pass. Very good ball skills. Gets to a lot of balls. High points the football. Will contribute in press man and show solid blitz ability with closing burst. There will not be a problem learning a variety of defensive packages as Woods was recruited by Stanford among other top FBS programs. Shrine Game notes: A break down wrap up tackler who is smart and instinctive. Makes the clutch tackle in space. Can play deep halves coverage or play up close to the line of scrimmage. Plays centerfield and reacts quickly right or left. Always on his feet."
I think the Woods hype has gotten a little out of control. Ever since we found out he was one of the 30 visits, his legend has grown rapidly to the point where people were shocked he "fell" this far when in reality, this is probably right about where he should have been picked.
Is Jeff Heath still in our plans?

In a draft full of good DBs it pushes guys down. Had this class been terrible at DB and then was there in the 6th then you would worry. You have it backwardsWhich tells you that in a draft full of good DB's, he's only a 6th round talent.
That doesn't mean he "fell" that means he got picked where he should have based on his talent.
He just said on the draft show he was getting calls to be a UDFA from other teams before we drafted him.

Its gonna be a good competition between him, Blanton and FrazierI'm very pleased with the pick.
With the coaching the Cowboys can provide, the kid could play a lot of snaps in sub-packages.
