Drafted by Cowboys Cowboys Select WR Ryan Switzer-- 4th Round (133rd overall)

Beasley's contract is up after 2018, Switzer should be his successor. Gives him 2 years to develop and contribute in the return game

He could also replace or rotate with Witten in 3rd and longs (6-9) as the zone "sitter" with great hands with more wiggle. Would be a Dunbar (screens n flat passes/motion out of backfield, etc. and a Witten replacement as a 3rd down option; would allow Beasley to still work out of the slot too. I like the pick esp considering his PR skills as a day one starter in that regard. Kid is a gamer.

I don't disagree with what you're saying. I guess what I'm saying is if you wanted a Cole Beasley clone why not go out and pick one of these undrafted guys out here who do the same things?

Like I said now I don't have a problem with it. At the time I felt they should've went defense because there was some DB's there that I felt could come right in and compete for a job. Woods was one of them. They got him. So I'm good. I heard Jerry say Switzer was a "Dak friendly" pick. Which I even get. I think reliable pass catchers who can turn small gains into big yards will help Dak tremendously.
How about not stereotyping a guy to make it look like he's a lesser talent than he is. It's pretty obvious that he's a much better talent than a lot of the people who've done zero research on the kid are saying. The Cowboys clearly had him as best available talent, and obviously expected him to be gone by their next pick. They wanted a weapon on ST, and he is that, as well as being a guy who can play in the slot, with Beasley in four wide sets, as his backup, and be a replacement down the line. He's obviously a much better prospect than Beasley was and has a good chance to become a better player and replace him.

Also people who keep saying that because we have one good slot receiver, that we don't need another good one have obviously never seen the Patriots play.

Yes, Witten needs to start getting fazed out of 4 wr sets. He should only play 2/3 wr sets and even in 3 wr sets Rico should get some occasional work if he's ready.

Yup.

This is a Patriots move. And I'm not talking about it from a "they like scrappy white WR's too" angle.

I'm talking about letting aging veterans go and replacing them with a similar, cheaper player. Beasley is going to be 30 after his contract expires in 2018. It's likely gonna be his last contract and he's gonna want to get paid. He's one of the best slot WR's in the league, I don't blame him. But Switzer allows us to let him walk and use resources else where.

Beasley fans aren't gonna like to read this, but that's one of the benefits of this pick, along with it being a good insurance policy this season should Beasley get hurt, and the punt return value.

..."Hopefully, I can do as many things as possible to help this team win and continue to grow as a player," Switzer said.

At 5-foot-8, 181 pounds, Switzer is almost a copy of Cole Beasley, who led the Cowboys with 75 receptions last year. Switzer had 96 catches for 1,112 yards last season.

"I have studied his tape a lot and I really like what he does," Switzer said. "He plays the game the way it is supposed to be played. He is a tough cover one-on-one and he knows how to work zones as well. This fourth year for me as a receiver was the best because the game slowed down for me. I was able to feel things out. I was able to read coverages post-snap. In the Carolina offense, we had a lot of post-snap route recognitions where we had to determine what route to run. I think that helped me a lot. Hopefully I can continue to grow because I know my ceiling is really high as a receiver."...

How am I stereotyping?

And I'm not interested in what the Patriots. What works for them doesn't work for everyone else.

Like I said, I'm fine with the pick. I thought Xavier Woods would've been the better pick...Cowboys player KT smart and still got him.

FYI, if you tell Switzer white midgets don't belong in the NFL and then follow that up with a bunch of ZE PLANE! ZE PLANE! messages he will block you on Twitter.

Wonder why Dallas turned to their current size indicator that is set around 6'1-2"...and it took Edelman to turn back the pages?

The issue of being able to dunk a basketball is still on the table...
