Wow, I can't believe that Ellis thinks he is being shopped. He would think the janitor cleaning out the trash can in his locker as a sign that he is going to be traded.
It isn't?

I understand your concerns but Ellis is not going to be around forever and at some point, the team needs to find out if the young guys can play. Spencer was a #1 pick and he needs to get on the field. Having Ellis there stunts his growth.

That's why I said it was his last year. They have to move on by at least next year. I just wonder if it's worth it. Obviously they must think they can move on without him....assuming moving him is for real. I just don't know who they will play behind Spencer.

If they can find a player to be a third down pass rusher and backup SOLB then fine. We don't need his big salary and cap cost. IF.

With Phillips coaching the team you have to get rid of Ellis if you want the young guys to get a shot. As long as Ellis is on the team Phillips will always play the long tooth.

I thought the U-Haul driver standing outside Valley Ranch with a 'Greg Ellis' sign was clue enough...

Not surprising news. I'd take a third and a fifth and be happy.

no way you can get a 3rd,
remember randy moss cost new england a 4th and he was all pro wr

so id say a 4th to 5th, most likely a 5th with escelation to playing time and playoffs implications etc

but say we can get a 5th, maybe move up to a 4th if ellis plays so many snaps and say helps new england or bengals to playoffs

so that way with keith davis signing in oakland,
we should get a 3rd and a 4th for chris canty and kevin burnett
then a 5th say for greg ellis,

i dont think the cowboys would be after chad johnson, what do some of you think, greg ellis for chad johnson;

Am I the only one who wonders where we will get a third rusher from without Ellis around? I agree this needs to be his last year here. Maybe I'm too conserative.

I don't see how you can depend on any rookies we have on the team.
Igor Olshansky, Jay Ratliff, and Bradie James have all shown pass rush capabilities.

In college Victor Butler was very aggressive in pass rush. The videos of Brandon Williams show he can be too.

Anthony Spencer will surprise a lot of people this year. He's going to explode.

I have always liked ellis. I think he is a good guy, little bit of a worry wart....okay a big worry wart, but to me that is ok. I just wished he would have kept that stuff private.

They would have to be on crack to trade us chad johnson for gregg ellis, They turned down two 1's from washington....I think cincy will deactivate johnson before they trade him.

oh and the thing I worry about with ellis, if he were to be released I fear he could end up in Washington or philly. The guy can still play, he just cant play all the snaps he used to.

I wish him well wherever he goes. He was one of the first good guys the team brought in to clean up the terrible image Irvin, Newton and others created and I for one appreciated that.

I don't know why Chad Johnson even came into this conversation, but I doubt he is traded. I think Palmer was just calling him out for not being present in saying he was gone... not referencing an upcoming trade.

In being realistic, I agree that the Boys can pretty much only hope for a 5th at the most for Ellis. Everyone knows that the Boys don't want his 6mill cap number on the cap so all they have to do is lowball or wait till he is cut.

I dont see how anyone can say that about spencer. He looked really lazy to me at times and didnt look like a guy who would do whatever it takes to make plays.

I think if he put up gregg ellis sack numbers it would be a good year for him.

and thats all if he stays healthy. Spencer and Hatcher are very dissapointing players to me, probably the two biggest on this team for me.

I'll just say, I like what I am hearing and leave it at that.

A-men!

AND

The Hallelujah will come when he's gone.

Ellis is vastly overrated at this point in his career by some fans. Those 8 sacks are deceptive. Once again (broken record), Ellis had 3 sacks in the first 10 games (2 in week two and one against the Rams in week 7). He had five sacks in the last six games, and two of those came against the Giants' backup RT. Ellis had two sacks in week two, and then he played 8 games and had 1 sack. Ellis doesn't want to drop into coverage, he wants to rush every down.

Ellis' run defense isn't that great. Ellis has left rush lanes wide open after rushing up field in pass rush and not sniffed out the run. (see the first Giants game last year and Brian Westbrook's sliding triple in 2007 and see the Rams game last year). The Giants and Eagles have exploited this area of his game during the past two years.

Amonte Toomer is still running. TD 7-0 Giants

The Cowboys are getting younger.

Look out.

The malcontents and overrated players are getting the boot.

Ellis is a malcontent and overrated.

I think he can, too.

If Spencer just doubles his rookie sack total of 3, he has 6.

Some people want to keep Greg Ellis for $ 6.25 million dollars (for 8 deceptive sacks/ part time player) and continue to stunt Anthony Spencer's growth?

Don't forget Jason Williams, too. I think Phillips can play him downhill in some packages and get some pressure or sacks out of him.

Moss was an aberration and the market two years ago has no bearing on the market now. I have no idea what the market is now nad neither do oyu. At the end of the day we dont have to trade Ellis and we can sit on him. If teams get into a bidding war then we could easily get a third for him. He is a pass rusher and they are a very rare commodity in any market.

Worrying is one thing but constantly going to JJT year after year to voice your woories is something completely different.
