I have always liked ellis. I think he is a good guy, little bit of a worry wart....okay a big worry wart, but to me that is ok. I just wished he would have kept that stuff private.

They would have to be on crack to trade us chad johnson for gregg ellis, They turned down two 1's from washington....I think cincy will deactivate johnson before they trade him.

oh and the thing I worry about with ellis, if he were to be released I fear he could end up in Washington or philly. The guy can still play, he just cant play all the snaps he used to.

I wish him well wherever he goes. He was one of the first good guys the team brought in to clean up the terrible image Irvin, Newton and others created and I for one appreciated that.

I agree Theebs. He was a good soldier for all except the last 3 years or so. If he had ever had a decent pass rusher opposite him I think he would have put up double digit sacks nearly every year in the old 4-3 system.

Having said that, if they get rid of him now then so be it. I trust that Wade knows what he's doing on defense.

I have to be careful how much I say sometimes. People get offended. I try and share just enough to be thought of as a credible poster. Thin line between that and throwing stuff against the wall and chirping when I get lucky.
The ones you offend really aren't worth worrying about. I think most would appreciate anything you've heard through the grapevine.

The Dallas Cowboys are shopping outside linebacker Greg Ellis, multiple sources told FanHouse on Thursday.

The sources are Ellis, Ellis' agent and who?

theebs;2782788 said:
Dallas is serious about a potential move because on Thursday, the final day of this week's organized team activities, the team sent Ellis home, not allowing him to practice. The Cowboys did this last year during some OTAs, and coach Wade Phillips said then it was to not wear Ellis down. He turns 34 in August.

If Phillips sat down Ellis last year to not wear him down, then why does it necessarily mean anything different this year?

This week the team held a team meeting with several of its veterans including Tony Romo, Jason Witten, DeMarcus Ware and Marcus Spears. Ellis, who is tied with left tackle Flozell Adams with the longest tenure on the team, was not invited to the meeting by the coaches. Ellis took that as a sign he might not be wanted.

Ellis takes everything as a sign that he's not wanted.

Igor Olshansky, Jay Ratliff, and Bradie James have all shown pass rush capabilities. I hope you know something that I dont Hostile, because reports i have read, and when i watched Igor on tape, he isn a quick rusher, he is kinda slow, now I do agree that james and ratliff can rush the passer

In college Victor Butler was very aggressive in pass rush. The videos of Brandon Williams show he can be too.
I do think brandon can rush, but he is a year away to me, he is kinda like a real young harvey martin or a young tony tolbert, will take him a year to learn
on butler, not that familar with him, so cant say on him;

Anthony Spencer will surprise a lot of people this year. He's going to explode.
i am not being down on the players, what i am trying to do this year Hostile, show me, prove it to me;
As for spencer, i question his desire, like when he was hurt last year, spencer didnt take his treatments serious, and on the play in the baltimore play for a big run, he tried to go around for the tackle instead of going through the offensive linemen stacking up the running back till pursuit got there

i do know spencer is real strong, but i question his work ethic

again, im not putting down the team, because jay ratliff said today, all the team needs is chemistry, get that and this team will be unbeatable;
ok, what i say is show me, prove it, time to if your going to do the talking, time to do the walking

back to Igor, what i was wanting Igor to do, was get into the class with spears that randy white was teaching on martial arts, thats exactly what Igor needs, we all know he is one of the strongest players on the team now, time now for him to fine tune his hands, on keeping offensive linemen off of him, so he can go make the play
i like Igor and want him to succeed;

You know, after rethinking this Ellis rumor, it could be two fold approach in making a move like this.

As we all have seen, this offseason has been about cleaning house and creating a group that focuses on the agenda ahead - winning football games. There is no room for those who complain, cause drama, question authority, and don't put 100% on the field.

Every year, and it has even been said by management publicly, Ellis complains and is negative about his role. Well... guess what, it's not about "him", but the team.

Even though I do agree with some that Spencer doesn't give me a super great positive feeling about cutting Ellis who at times gets the job done, a move like this could be about team attitude and management being consistent on how they want their players to respond.

To add, I definitely believe that if a trade or cut happens, the added benefit would be that it would help the Cowboys cap especially with TO's salary still on the books.

Hopefully, if this happens, Spencer will see the big picture and come to play or the same result will happen to him when his contract is up. A good motivational move for him to get to work.

I'll just say, I like what I am hearing and leave it at that.

Well I am pulling for him, and he could not be more complimented than he was last summer on hard knocks during training camp only to have an average season.

Worrying is one thing but constantly going to JJT year after year to voice your woories is something completely different.

Yes thats very true, but it really was the 05 offseason going into 06 when that started. He was fine last year for the most part.

I always wondered what would of become of Ellis if not for the horrific broken leg in his 2nd (?) season.

Dude was coming into his own, playing like a man possessed, sacking everything in sight, returning fumbles for TDs.

He never seemed like near the same player after the injury.

Explore a trade if you'd like, but don't release him if you fail. He has too much value to just kick to the curb.

Bills need more pass rushers. Cowboys need more speed on offense and KR/PR specialist..Bills have Roscoe Parrish. Cowboys have Greg Ellis...Both are expendable to their teams.

Just sayin...

Great point..although I wasn't even counting him in the first place. Our WR is super thin if ONE guy goes down. It makes too much sense!!

I agree with you.

I don't think Ellis was ever the same player after that really bad injury.

I think with Spencer as still unproven, you keep Greg as pass rusher. You can never have enough.

The Morning Line, 5/21

This, from Sirius NFL Radio, via Enquirer beat reporter Joe Reedy's blog:

“It‘s definitely a new look for the Bengals receiver corps but I couldn't be happier with the guys we've got,” Palmer said. “T.J.’s (Houshmandzadeh) gone and Chad's pretty much gone, he hasn't been here, so we've got guys that want those two spots, guys that compete day in and day out, when we're out there on the field, running, conditioning and in the weight room lifting. They’re guys that want to take over for those two spots. They look every bit capable of doing what we're going to ask them to do.”
When asked what his expectations about Ochocinco this season were, Palmer said: “Well I really don't know. I haven't talked to him. I haven't talked to anybody that has talked to him.''
carson palmer is throwing some real slick shots at chad there lol
