If the team feels they can comfortably afford him and he is an upgrade then I don't see the problem.

It's good to get guys within the division since they are already close to the competition. Plus, if he can give Dak some tips on why that defense confused the crap out of him, that would be a good thing.

Fun fact...only 6 defensive ends in the NFL had double digit sacks last season. We aren't going to land a double digit sack guy this offseason. If we can get one guy that commands a double team, it would increase the pressure all around though.

I'm sure this thread will be moved soon but Roster Zone is pretty dead, I think we should keep a few free agent related threads alive to create more conversation. Fanzone is becoming Jaylon Smith/Tony Romo central.

Love this entire post!

I'll only add that if we signed JPP and fielded him with a healthy DLaw, and Jaylon Smith, it would be pretty scary

No they shouldn't. Injury problems, steadily declining production and is said to want Vernon type money.

Ingram, Perry, Addison or even Campbell are better options to me. Now if his market is 7 or 8 million per year, maybe I could get behind it but not for what he's going to want.

Mara would likely blow up the Giants cap to keep JPP away from the Cowboys.

JPP would instantly improve our run game, and he knows how to get pressure on the QB. He wasn't a sack machine before the accident either, so I have no idea what some of you are on about.

2012 - 6 sacks
2013 - 2 sacks
2014 - 12 sacks

In 12 games last season, he had 7 sacks. Seems like he was getting to the QB about on average to his 2014 season. Factor in he's one of the better DEs against the run, and he's worth the money.

It's funny to me, years of inconsistent DE play or just outright no production from the position, and people are afraid of the cap hit on actually putting some big money to one of the better DEs in the league.

At this point, I'd do my best to get JPP, draft a DE, and get ready for Lawrence to walk after this season.

He is worth 13 million a year to me but he will be looking for and likely get 16-17 million per.

He is good. Very good. Just dont know if he is elite.

I would love JPP if we can get him for less then what the Giants got Oliver. Id be willing to overpay a bit just as long as its not a gross overpayment. Very good player, but I dont see him in that elite ( by that I mean top 5) catagory of edge rushers

Id be happy with a 13-14 million per price. 15 tops. I think he will get more

If we could sign him and he makes our defence legit with a legit and consistent pass rush and he helps us win a SB, I'm all for it...

I would rather sign Campbell. JPP is a bigger, sexier name but he hasn't been great since 2011.

Sign Campbell

The Giants will probably end up resigning him.
