He's trying to get vernon money but he wont. Think he get's around 12 million a year and stays with the giants. They're already making room to sign him before FA.

Only if they are the highest bidder. Jerry ought to at least try to acquire his services.

The two cuts they made including Cruz was likely to try and get JPP signed. He's not the player he was a few years ago and I certainly wouldn't over pay to get him. From what I'm hearing he wants a lot of money something in the neighborhood of 17M a year.

Yes all true but there is nothing wrong with running up the price for the Giants to retain him. Don't you think they would pay him a little more to keep him out of a Cowboys uniform?

Would be tough for the Giants to do that because they just paid Olivier Vernon a 5 year 85M and JPP is looking for a similar deal.

You should. Don't get caught up in name recognition
So true it's the name. JPP has played for seven season's has 49 sacks that 7 sacks a season 2011 & 2014 was his best 16.5 & 12.5. and he wants a contract like Olivier Vernon ( five years, 85 million) outside of 2011 & 2014 he hasn't had more then his seven sack (2016 performance) Benson Mayowa had 6.5 and missed 3 games

If I'm JPP, I'm not missing the chance to go into FA as a top edge rushing candidate. I have no doubt he'll be too expensive for what he gives you, but I bet he makes it to FA.

Mara would likely blow up the Giants cap to keep JPP away from the Cowboys.
I was thinking more about this.

If the Giants don't get JPP re-signed before he hits free agency, it would be funny if the Cowboys showed interest in JPP just to drive up the price; It would be hilarious if Mara ended up paying him 30M per year just to keep him away from the Cowboys.

Exactly right!!!! Yes we need an edge rusher so showing interest in this guy would be completely believable. I don't want JPP on the team, I'd rather we draft and develop our own talent but I would never pass up an opportunity to force the Giants to pay top dollar to keep theirs. :D

To each his own. I'm not saying move into the top 15 of the draft. If there a guy sitting at 25 or 26 go get him if you think he help this team. I think a lot of fans are fooling themselves into thinking, guys like, Harris, Barnett, McKinley, will be there at 29! Move up 3-4 pick or pay the One arm Bandit JMO Damned if do Damned if don't

It's definitely a balancing act. I don't want to overpay, but I also don't want to miss out on Ogbah or Dodd by a spot or two and end up with another situation where you end up getting zero from a guy like Tapper.

Bet he gets more sacks than mayowa, tank, tapper, t crawford, ect next year.

That being said, it's all about the price.

Cowboys should sign....
5. Calais Campbell, DI, Arizona Cardinals
The only thing keeping Campbell from being higher on this list is age, as he will enter the 2017 season north of 30 years old for the second time in his career. Campbell, though, is coming off the best season of his NFL tenure, recording 56 total QB pressures and 34 defensive stops in 2016. He maintained his strong run defense and improved as a pass-rusher. The way Arizona has deployed him, Campbell can play in any scheme, and has effectively lined up at 3-technique (the traditional pass-rushing alignment of a four-man D-line defensive tackle) more often than any other spot for the Cardinals, despite their base defensive front.
