It will cost you a 1st and 2nd to move up to around pick 17.
It will cost a 1st and a 3rd to move up 5 spots
So what. We have the ability to get the exact one or two players we need in the draft then we should do it and then work on re-signing our free agents that we still need.

Because we need more than just one guy. We will need a DE, CB and WR. The odds are not in your favor to move up.

The days of the feared edge rusher are coming to an end also. Offenses are evolving. Look at New England. You could put Lawrence Taylor in his prime screaming off the edge and it wouldn't matter.

Pressure has to come from inside and out in today's game because teams are adapting to the spread talent that is coming out. Most offensive linemen coming out of school can't and weren't trained to sustain blocks for long.

At the risk of being argumentative, I have to disagree. All you have to do is go watch the AFC Championship Game between the Patriots (who you mentioned above) and the Broncos. The 2 edge rushers for Denver (Ware and Miller) absolutely destroyed Brady and won that game.

Does that mean that inside pressure is not important? No, in fact I tend to agree with your premise that it is MORE important. However, that doesn't mean edge rushing is irrelevant. They are among the most valuable commodities in the NFL for a reason.

It's definitely a balancing act. I don't want to overpay, but I also don't want to miss out on Ogbah or Dodd by a spot or two and end up with another situation where you end up getting zero from a guy like Tapper.
If we had move up and drafted Dodd or Ogbah where not talking about JPP? We've been chasing a DE for three draft, I Know we picked Gregory- but out of sight out of mind. If I pay 85million it's for E Berry, A.J. Bouye May be K. Short not JPP injury prone just OK Not a War Daddy

Not trying to be a smart *** giving up a 1 and a 2 to move up is that a bad thing because it same to me we've been giving away 2's for while. Gregory and Jaylon smith, (Smokey and Peg leg jack) we give up second for Hope - Hope he stop smoking, Hope his foot grows back

It's quite possibly not the same huge need, anyway.

And I don't see them paying "$85 million" for anybody.

Maybe this will sound familiar... you can't always get what you want...
We can get at least a DE and a CB by being aggressive in the draft. WR is not a glaring need.

When TWill walks, and its gonna happen because Dallas is not going to pay this guy what he could get on the market.
Do you want Brice Butler as your 2?
BTW Butler is also a FA, so no guarantee he will be here either. We've seen what hes capable of. Confusion and drops.
"As far as the specifics on what happened at the 5:53 marker in the fourth quarter when Dak Prescott tossed a beautiful pass him in the end zone?
Butler is still trying to wrap his head around how he failed to haul it in.
“I still don’t know where my hands were,” he said. “Dude, I was surprised when I fell and I didn’t have that ball. I felt like I was looking it in. I guess I didn’t stick my arms out long enough.”
What? No thanks. He needs to be repealed and replaced.

WR2 will be a priority in the draft or FA or both.
If Dez gets hurt again, You gonna roll out on Sunday with Lucky and Beas?

LOL, I didn't know I was talking to Chicken Little who thinks the sky is falling. Over reacting to things that aren't that big of a deal is just your way and you will never learn. The WR position will get additions and indeed already has had addition made to it. We can't have pro bowlers at every position so stop with the panic and doom casting. It will work out.

This guy is going to command a massive deal...probably more than his teammate Vernon got last off-season

This guy has one double digit sack season in the last 5 years

Nope

Too much money is the only reason why I wouldn't want him. For the right price he could help this team win. But the price just ain't gonna be right. Frustrating.

I'd like to add that Von Millers edge pressure against Cam Newton was devestating. He destroyed Cam. DEs/edge rushers are very important!

Not trying to point out the obvious but that #9 guy we used to have never seemed to have any problems thwarting JPP and co.'s concerted efforts, in fact, I'm positive had we retained the services of that #9 guy( who we used to have) we could forestall the W.R. frantic panic and keep the 3 starters we currently have leaving the primary focus on the D.
Thru the draft and F.A. headhunting ,but gotta say 'no' on jpp,I can tell you right now the expected return won't even come close compared to the as yet unforeseen investment, besides if he's the best available that #9 guy we used to have play for us wouldn't worry right along with the other 1/2 dozen Q.B.'s in the league of that #9 guy's(almost same )caliber,,,, I say throw the low ball offer and press on when he refuses.

Thanks for your amazing it will work out insight. We have two free agent wrs who will command more money than their current contracts. Do you want to keep one or both and how much are you willing to pay smart guy? And please tell me about this addition that has already occurred that will help our team. This is a blog where we discuss issues around our team. No need for name calling. Your keyboard is real tough.

Not trying to be a smart a** giving up a 1 and a 2 to move up is that a bad thing because it same to me we've been giving away 2's for while. Gregory and Jaylon smith, (Smokey and Peg leg jack) we give up second for Hope - Hope he stop smoking, Hope his foot grows back
That's another issue. Just draft ready and able guys. Jaylon may turn out to be the next Butkus. But so much hype and wait and trying to make a deal. Get guys who are ready to play. The window is open now with an unbelievable pick in Dak, who I hope can repeat something close to this season for years to come. We'll see. No more fancy stuff. Draft our board and improve the talent on the team. De, secondary x2, wr, rt all will require picks BC of FA and need

I'm a doom and gloom guy because you want a pro bowler at every position and I point out you can't do that? You are over reacting, but that is just what you do... Chicken Little.

Too expensive at $15 mill or more per year. He'll command more digits than he possesses.
