Personally, I think we have enough tall, long striders. I want some quickness and speed, like Mike Thomas or Mike Wallace.

Add Brandon Tate to that list... He's a burner too.

I'm OK with it if they take him in the second day. The first day should be used on immediate contributors. I'm all for giving Stanback and Hurd real competition to earn a roster spot.

Ed Thompson, of Scout.com, reports Cal-Poly WR Ramses Barden said the Dallas Cowboys are one of the teams showing the most consistent interest in him over the past few months.

It doesn't come as a " huge " surprise to me since they let it known they were going to draft James Hardy out of Indiana last year if he fell to them. Hardy and Barden are practically identical physically.

Hardy has been a dissapointment for the Bills-just saying.

Hardy may or may not suck but he hasn't had a chance to develop yet either.

WR is such a tough position to play early on.

Well he should be stifled yet another year now.

Man, They sure do love the Fade with this guy. 95% of the catches i saw were either throwing it up or the fade. That intrigues me quite a bit with his height. He definitely looks more like a possesion reciever. I wouldn't mind taking him with one of the later picks, it worries me a little to use a 2nd or third though.

Barden is more Brandon Marshall than James Hardy

if you look at Hardy, he's a string-bean, while Barden is thick-set, plus Barden and Marshall both have an affinity to seek contact after the catch, not something Hardy has ever shown

I'll admit I know nothing about Cal-Poly. Do they ever play any decent competition?

Ever since Coach Nikcerson took over and started recruiting heavily from the Ampipe Bulldogs, they have been a powerhouse. Case in point: Stefan Djordjevic (although he tends to play the ball, rather than the man).

We aspire to be the 2009 version of the Jacksonville Jaguars 2007 WR core? We aren't getting this guy.

I agree except I think Wallace is a tall, long strider too.

Gimme Kenny McKinley, please.

Barden is a real tough one to gauge IMO. In all of his highlights, he makes his plays in single coverage.

That said, even if the guy doesn't make a single catch, if he demands double coverage just from his ability to purely shield any single defender for easy catches, it makes the rest of our passing offense a lot more dangerous.

I guess I just think he doesn't have the explosiveness to play in the NFL. Despite his game being built on jump balls, he isn't much of a jumper. He has very little athleticism, really.

When I saw him at the Senior Bowl he looked very slow off the line. I have heard the best correlation to his game is Keyshawn.

I think we need a quicker fast guy as well.

I like McKinley. If your history is as good as you say, then it's hard to argue with you.

What do you think of Dillard? he isn't athletically gifted, but he's got short area explosiveness and reportedly is a master route runner with great hands.

Also, if we're looking for a quick WR, I like all three of Penn state's receivers, even down to Norwood (who might be the quickest of the three, albeit the least impressive overall).

SORRY FOR THE TRIPLE POST (why can't I edit posts?)

Spectre: What do you think about Travis Beckum at WR?

If you are going to make a choice between Barden or Patrick turner in a lower round, give me Turner. Turner may have underachieved in a great program but SC had alot of places to throw the ball. Meanwhile Barden disapeared at the Senior bowl when he stepped up in competition.

Dillard is solid. I mean, you can't argue with that kind of production. He's a guy that does alot of things well. Definitely worth a late pick.

Norwood I fear may be too small but I haven't seen enough of him to give a good assessment.

Beckum is what alot of teams are looking for at TE. A guy who can catch and run to compliment a "blocking" TE. The Eagles should maybe look his way but Dallas already has one in Martellus Bennett.
