I have a 15 year old daughter right now. I can post a picture if you think I am lying. The boy she is most interested in and who is most interested in her is Black and about a year older. I am not so naive as to think that physical emotions I went through at their age are exempt from them. Would I like it if they had sex? Hell no. Would I want to send that young man to jail for it if they did? Not if she was a willing party to it. Would it make any difference to me if he was 18 and still in school? No, not one bit.

If this makes me a bad Father in your eyes, then so be it. I can live with your disgust. I refuse to think only a young man is guilty of poor judgment. My own flesh and blood can be just as guilty. No man on this forum can tell me that at 18 years old they didn't have sexual feelings towards girls who were hot and younger than them. I won't believe you if you say you couldn't get it up unless she was "of age." Kids make mistakes. You, me, this kid.

BTW, I wonder if any 18 year old woman has ever been sent to jail for 10 years in Georgia for having sex with a 15 3/4 year old boy. I bet not.

I have three daughters (all college age or older) and it definitely takes two to "tango." In fact, having daughters, I always felt the responsibility was much more on them than the boy. I would be more inclined as a father to blame them for a situation where the female has to be in control. Rape or drugs would be an entirely different thing, but we should not send an 18 year old to jail when sex is consensual.

Two here too. 15 and 11. My 15 year old is a head turner. Last year 2 boys got into a fist fight over who was going to take her to the school dance. I solved that, she didn't go. She was 14. When she was 12 a boy who was 15 asked her out. She made me very proud with her response.

She's a good kid. So is Dustin, the boy she likes. He doesn't like the Cowboys. That's the only bad thing I can really say about him. He's hilarious. I've told WG and a couple of other people stories about him. Kid is a total crack up. I'd share a couple of stories but people would take them wrong. They are totally innocent and totally funny, but people take everything wrong if they want to.

You say bad father; I say it sounds like you have a head attached to your body and that you apply logic and are rational in decision making.

You know what we do to "make it harder" for a boy to want to screw up with our daughters? I'm serious about this. The boys come eat dinner in our home, and they are encouraged to have dinner in the boys home with his parents too. I feel it is very hard to screw up if you honestly like and respect the family of the partner you are with at the time. Can it still happen? Of course it can. But it is important to me that I like the boys my girls date and that they like me. So far I've been very lucky. It isn't luck at all. I put them in a place of trust, our home, to deal with me.

My oldest said one time, "I hope I meet a guy like you." Meanwhile I was thinking, "oh please don't ever meet a guy like me."

Awesome book....I was disappointed that many of the men featured in the book aren't really featured in the series.

Anyway.....I think we need to take another look at that link that was posted earlier.

I was all for Dixon, but after reading the article I'm not sure he's innocent after all. If the report is true and she spend time in the hospital, then it looks as if the sex wasn't consentual. She was reportedly beaten.

On top of that, the girl doesn't really appear to recant her story like the original article implied. She still claims she was raped.

Admittedly, this may be a he said/she said story. I want to believe Dixon, I really do....I want to believe a jury of 12 people....but it's hard to know who to believe in this story.

i saw his story on that HBO show with costas and gumble.....i have been rooting for him ever since.....

he is truly a victim of racism and discrimination........and i am glad to see that he has been able to perservere over beyond all the bigotry that has been sent his way.

i also applaud his white adopted family for sticking behind him and believing in him........and not merely losing faith and tossing him to the curb. Cause, it would have been easy to turn their backs on him and let this unjust racism prevail....however, they stuck with him and by him and helped him succeed and eventually bring truth to the surface.......


This is one guy I will be rooting for..........

it was a serious injustice what happened to this kid. im glad georgia change their state law.

im always happy the cowboys were the ones to give this guy a the fair shot he deserved. im really pulling for him
