If this is the move they make, I see little reason why they should keep Olumba around.
Same book stash. Olumba will end being a contributor on someone else's roster some day and we'll keep signing PS fodder. Not saying Olumda is Darren Woodson but it seems we never get to find out about any of these guys until we see them in a different uniform...
maybe the coaching staff knows something we don't.
This should have zero effect on Lewis. And just when guys thought Lewis would get a shot to start...boom they sign a new guy lol.

Like they did about drafting Taco?
Yep, watch out for the rabbitWill McClay is a magician.
Did they know he could have 4 sacks in 7 games, yes they did.
Why wouldn't Jourdan Lewis be used instead?
Played well??? Was there a Jersey pulling competition?Yah... all he has done is play well in the preseason and make plays lol
Why would anyone think he may deserve a shot lol?
The way this team operates and makes decisions is baffling
Olumba admitted he lacked speed, one of his major weaknesses but at least he would play the ball unlike our guys save Lewis. If this is the move they make, I see little reason why they should keep Olumba around.
There it is.
Great point. By poaching Burton, the Cowboys get a 2 for 1. They probably valued Burton's potential more than what was available in the free agent pool, which is the only option they would have had if they just promoted Olumba instead.Chance to get a guy they like off of another team’s Practice squad. Had they moved Olumba up, they couldn’t have signed Burton off of Indy’s PS to be on the Dallas PS. This way they have both Burton and Olumba.
I suspect that McClay had flagged Burton as a guy they liked on another team’s PS and this was a chance to steal him from Indy. They probably view Olumba and Burton as about the same player, and since neither would play a lot, decided to take the chance to get a guy they liked.
