If this guy’s wheels are still good, he will make a nice depth player. He is a horrible fit in a 3-4 which is what the Lions deployed last yr. probably could drop inside in nickel situations too.

It’s the same ones. They whine when we don’t do anything and whine when we do something. It wouldn’t matter at all who the player is in any case.

They will also whine when low risk signings don't stick. Even if that means that we drafted a guy at the same position who stepped up in camp and preseason and took their job. No one we grabbed at this point is guaranteed a job.

Covington is on a 500k bonus (a.k.a. NOTHING). Hyder likely got that or less.

These are signings you make when you plan on drafting at a position but need to make sure you have enough guys so that you aren't stuck with a huge hole.

Just sad we sign nothing but scrubs now.

1 yr deal probably vet min.

He’s a depth, high snaps, has had success.

He can fill in for Taco and Lawrence if needed rest or injury. He’s also depth if Gregory is able to comeback

His signing screams Marinelli.

Just goes to show you how much the front office pays attention to his preferred ideology of taking moderate talent and coaching it up.

The sad part of all of that is overachieving is not always sustainable.

I don't know if it's been discussed already but apparently he played DT as well.

Definite Marinelli guy. I can only imagine the gyrating going on right now.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Plays into the "position flex" thing too.

I agree
He gets the most out of marginal players
He loves effort guys
But wouldn’t it be nice to start with more talent and get the most out of him

No can do. Talent would make him obsolete.
