it’s not complicated. At all

I don't follow your logic. It seems you're presuming that the rate of failure inevitably goes up with more opportunities, which is perplexing to say the least.
No, Z-Man is the de facto PK now.Wait....so they just recently signed Kai Forbath to a 1-year/$1.187M contract and now they sign Zeurlein to a 3-year/$7.5M deal????
Is Dallas going to rotate kickers?????
No. He’s been more consistent because he’s had far less chances. And has been bouncing around teams for a while now. Greg the leg is a legitimate kicker who besides last year was second only to Justin tucker. But I bet if we brought tucker in you would say he’s not as good as forbath too so you could bash our front office and pretend to know more than professionals who get paid to live the sport.I actually hope Zeurlien is better than Forbath this next year because I am pretty sure with the contract he signed and our new Special Teams coach he will be our kicker, but over the course of their careers Forbath has been the more consistent kicker at putting the ball between the uprights, which is the most important thing a kicker does.

If Apple sets an acceptable failure rate of three defective iPhones out of 100, it doesn't matter if the factory produced 100 phones in a given day or 1,000. If they remain within tolerance, their defect rate would not exceed 3%. It's not like anybody would reasonably expect or accept that margin to rise simply because they manufactured more phones on Thursday than they did on Wednesday.
Zeurlein and Forbath both have a large enough body of work to provide us with a sufficient sample size to assess their accuracy. It's not like Forbath is a second year player and we're asserting he's more consistently accurate on the basis of a 25 kick rookie season. Both players have kicked well over a 100 times in 80+ games. It's a reasonable sample size to draw a conclusion from.
Please explain your logic: You say Forbath has has been more consistent because he’s had far less chances. This is nonsensical!!No. He’s been more consistent because he’s had far less chances. Logic again! No, Z-Man is the de facto PK now.
The only year in Forbath's entire career where he failed to convert at least 80% of his attempts was 2015. The year before that he made 89% of his FGs in a full season with the Commanders, and the year after his one down year he went 15 for 15 for a 100% conversion rate with the Vikings.
Logic again!

Logical question. Both have played at least 80 games. A large sample size. Who has the best accuracy %, Zuerlien or Forbath?80 percent is not the mark of a good kicker.
Zeurlein has been 86 percent or above in four years, including three in a row from 2016 to 2018.
Forbath also has been above 86 percent in four years, but it's been back and forth. Above 2012, 2014, 2016, 2019.
I consider 85 percent or above to be good. Last year, 15 kickers were 85 percent better. In 2018, 23 kickers were 85 or above, but a few of them had only a few attempts.
I’m using the MOST important stat kickers are judged on their FG accuracy percentage. How am I using it out of context? You are the classic case of a guy using a singular stat to try and take the opposite argument just for the heck of it. And using that stat out of context to try and grasp some kind of angle.
Forbath is a part time scrub at the end of his career.

Your to focused on a good fantasy football kicker. Was Mayer your fantasy kicker last year? You love kickers with big legs. He kicked two 60 yard FG’s last year. You got extra points for that didn’t you? I think like Zuerlien, he missed a lot of shorter ones though.Only on a Cowboys forum would fans actually be acting upset that the Cowboys signed Zeurlien. And somehow try to prove that Forbath can hold a candle to Zeurlien.
I think looking at players overall accuracy % is a better way to judge a kicker than looking at patterns, unless it is a recent pattern. Forbath’s recent pattern, the 2019 season, is much better than Zuerlien’s pattern! and his accuracy on FG’s over his career is better too!Overall? Forbath. But there are a lot of factors that have to be considered, including recent history. Zeurlein was pretty much a machine from 2016-2018. Was 2019 an aberration? We'll see
Forbath was fantastic on field goals last year, even if it was a relatively low number that he attempted (11). The year before that he made 80 percent, but again he only had a few attempts. so it's hard to really judge him on going 4 of 5. The year before that, he had what would be considered a normal year attemptswise and made 84.2 percent, so he was below average with a heavier workloard. That followed a year like last year where he was 100 percent but had fewer attempts (15). So it's possible he gets worse the more attempts he makes. (The only time that clearly wasn't the case was 2014 when he 27 attempts and made 24, which is almost 89 percent.)
I think just looking at the overall numbers is a terrible way to judge kickers. We need to look for patterns, and the pattern doesn't really favor Forbath.

If they keep Zeurlein over Forbath this FO is absolutely stupid **. Stupid for letting go of Bailey....in the end to only sign Zeurlein for the same reasons. Stupid for signing Maher, who has proven to suck. then to release him so late in the year. And stupid of signing anyone else when Forbath was perfect for us last year.
