You can get in on the party too, Corso.

Don't feel all left out.

Maybe you could say this team is headed in the right direction and there is always the draft.

That seems to be the comforting mantra around here.

C'mon. You can do it.

Is that what you think of me? Lazy thinking.
Now I can gauge your NFL opinion more appropriately while you pigeonhole others with your lazy snark.

I was only saying I'm happy that you're having a good time right now.
All excited, I can feel your fingers trembling in anticipation of what you're going to say next... I love it!

Now let's get one thing straight though: I never said I disagreed with you, lazy one. You assumed like you are used to doing.
I'm just happy you're happy and partying with your playmate. Who I don't normally disagree with either- so you don't have to pull out any more misconceptions on that either.
I dislike holding your hand when it comes to social interactions though. It looks ugly on you...

What's it going to be then, eh?

If he isn't signed....the question i'd ask is "why?"

Money? Concerns with where is head is at? Etc.

I'd think that'd be important to know right?

Verses making blanket statements about the organizational philosophy.

I think it has great relevance.

If they felt he was a problem, why has the team come out and stated they wanted him back.

The cap and it's consequences are driving this entire free agency process.

They will not overpay. They have a budget.

They just seem to be finding out that you probably get what you pay for. Teams are very reactive and go pick apart teams that did well the previous year.

Usually we end up keeping the players we want. It is a little different this year. We will see how that turns out.

That is why I laugh when people explain this free agency period as being the same as last year.

It isn't even close. That was a purge.

I honestly do not know exactly what this is.

He is considered an excellent special-teamer and spent the first two years of his career playing for Cowboys special-teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia. Gachkar had 16 special-teams tackles in 2014. The Cowboys also lost their leading special-teams tackler in free agency when Dwayne Harris signed with the New York Giants.

The Cowboys lost Justin Durant to the Atlanta Falcons and Bruce Carter to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first two days of free agency. Gachkar will be the third third linebacker the Cowboys have added this month, joining Keith Rivers and Jasper Brinkley, who has agreed to a two-year deal as well.

Gachkar wrapped up a visit with the New England Patriots over the weekend and will arrive in Dallas Sunday night. Like Brinkley, once he passes a physical the deals will be finalized.

I think its a really good signing. Good special teams player who can start if needed.

Cowboys have already lost Carter and Durant, and possibly McClain. We have now signed 3 Linebackers.

Rivers - Carter
Gachkar- Durant
Brinkley- McClain

Not saying those guys will equal the production but they look like their replacements.

I wonder if McClain's agent is trying to get more guaranteed money on his deal, maybe he's gotten multi-year offers from other teams. I don't know. I imagine we're much more comfortable with a 2 year deal. And McClain wants to play here, know that.

I don't even have much of a problem with the signing, not like the Brinkley one which I think as a complete waste of time.

I have a big problem with the way that we appear to be approaching the draft like it will cure all ills.

Then when we do not hit every choice, we will be reminded it is a crap shoot. Then it will be "in Will McClay we trust".

Free agency is supplement. You do not have to go in and blow your cap. Nor do you have to go in and scrap the bottom of the barrel.

At this stage, I would have preferred we took the little 3-5 million here and there and made a concerted effort to stabilize at least one position.

The way it looks to me on paper, we have added LB to the RB and DL areas that absolutely have to wait until April.

Unless of course there is this imaginary June 1stmas extravaganza that people still believe exists.

It's just the opposite. Fill the position holes you have prior to the draft with solid vets, and then draft and develop players for your system. I didn't want to overpay for Murray in the first place, and there's no available replacement at that spot worth the FA premium, so that pretty much had to be a draft day roster replacement.

You shouldn't have to be reminded that the draft is a crap shoot, at this point. It always has been. The goal is to build a systems where you know what it is you need to find in the draft and to be better at finding it than the other guys are in order to give yourself a chance to compete each season. Get better at shooting craps. You can't build a team in a resource limited ecosystem by consistently buying high and selling low. You need to do like the Packers do and build through your draft and sign your own. They've got one player out of 60 who's ever played a down for another team. That's hardcore player development.

And LB and DL were already on the list of position groups in desperate need of upgrading.

looks like a ST kinda guy with some spot duty on the field in a back-up role...a decent signing as it initially appears...helps to get to the "BPA" approach in 5 or 6 weeks

I'm assuming this is a special teams thing.

Many of these contracts are just backfill.
No real commitment unless they catch lightening in a bottle.

A few of these guys will get aced out, I suspect

I love how what they did last year, with that team, automatically translates to a winning formula that has been demonstrated to be sustainable.

Different team, different mindset.

Nothing is constant from year to year.

So they should change what they did to be successful last season, the thing they have really been doing for the last three years in remaking the roster? Because you think so?

Texted a buddy who's a diehard charger fan, this is what he told me.
"NOO! I wanted him back! Fantastic backup for Butler who sucked last year. Decent run stopper and makes good plays on the ball. Good pick up for you. ******"

Take it for what it's worth

Thank you for something that wasn't a snide attack on the acquisition and just an honest opinion on the player. Reading this board Id I didn't remember last years whining and moaning is give up watching the Cowboys because their done to go 1-15.
