Andrew Gachkar
Height: 6023
Weight: 233
40 Yrd Dash: 4.56
20 Yrd Dash: 2.70
10 Yrd Dash: 1.60
225 Lb. Bench Reps: 18
Vertical Jump: 34
Broad Jump: 09'10"
20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.29
3-Cone Drill: 6.95

03/04/15 - ILB Andrew Gachkar continues to be one of the team's unsung contributors on running downs; he has a nose for the football. Plus, he helps on special teams. While starters Donald Butler and Manti Te'o get most of the attention, Gachkar continues to be productive in limited snaps. Last season, he had 49 tackles and a sack, plus returned a fumble for a touchdown.

11/02/14 - ILB Andrew Gachkar was perhaps the lone bright spot in the Chargers' 37-0 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday. He led the team with three tackles for losses. Gachkar, a seventh-round pick out of Missouri in 2011, has been pressed into action due to the injury of Manti Te'o. Gachkar has never missed a game in a career that has seen him play mostly on special teams.

Those are outstanding measurables. At very worst the Cowboys special teams just got much better.

McClain better be coming back. If they think they can replace all of our talent with these cheap contracts, then we'll be worse than 8 and 8.

Our defense will be in the dumpster.

If McClain doesn't come back it's likely on McClain. He's already gone the first four games. He has issues, lots of them.

This is a good pickup, cheap and demonstrated he can play in the league when given the opportunity. Once again, people are soooooo caught up in names, no one knew Justin Durant and Ronald Leary when they became Cowboys.

I knew of both of those players.

Check out who our defensive coordinator is and then get back to me.

McClain was one of the huge reasons the defense played better than expected, coupled with a strong running game that kept the defense off the field. marinelli is an excellent coordinator, but bottom line is, you need talent. It's pure delusion to think that we're going to field a quality team by letting our best talent walk and filling the team with 'bargains'.

If this guy is a back-up, cool. But if they think he's some sort of replacement for McClain, that's a problem.

Holy crap. If (when) Lee can't play, this LB corp will be scary bad.

The Gack Attack is back. Everybody say 'meh!'

Actually, these types of signings often turn out really well for us. A young player who gives you something on ST who's trying to earn reps in the defensive rotation. And he's a guy who can stay in the lineup. Maybe somebody to someday make us all forget about Kyle Wilber.

The Cowboys added depth to their linebackers corps Sunday, agreeing to a two-year deal with linebacker Andrew Gachkar.

Gachkar has spent his first four professional seasons with the Chargers, joining them as a seventh-round pick in 2011 out of Missouri.

Gachkar announced his signing on his Twitter account, @theGACH, saying: “Proud to announce I’m going to be signing with the @dallascowboys!!! A dream come true and an amazing opportunity for my family and I!!!!”

Gachkar has made his mark mostly as a special teams player. Cowboys special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia was with the Chargers during Gachkar’s first two seasons – 2011 and 2012.

Gachkar finished last season with 14 tackles on special teams. He also made five starts at linebacker last season, and was credited with 38 tackles, one sack, one pass defended and returned a fumble for a touchdown.

I hope there is some good knowledge of how the compensatory picks work by Stephen Jones. This is the third FA we have signed.

I know numbers do not speak to the whole nebulous formula, but I want the max of four picks next season. I do not want one of these silly signings like a fullback or depth LB to cost even a seventh round compensatory pick.

He is only the 2nd qualifying FA they have signed. We have lost 6 qualifying free agents so they are still in line for 4 comp pics.

LB's drafted the last 3 years....

Anthony Hitchens
Will Smith
DeVonte Holloman
Kyle Wilber
Caleb McSurdy
Cherry picking at it's finest. Most of those guys were longshots to make the roster being 6th/7th round picks.

When it comes to guys who they valued high in the draft, they hit.

Sean Lee
Bruce Carter
Navorro Bowman (They had a 1st round grade on him in 2010 via the leaked draft board)
Bobby Wagner (Confirmed reports that he would've been our 2nd round pick if we didn't use the 2nd to trade up for Claiborne)

If we want a starter, I'm confident they can draft one in Rounds 2-3.

Hitchens started over Carter as a rookie.

Holloman was on the path to being either a starter or Nickel starter.

Wilber was a significant contributor on defense and special teams.

Smith and MdSurdy were 7th round picks.
