I was thinking more Nate Livings level. Maybe somewhere between that and Mackenzy Bernadeau, which is fine for a backup.

Maybe he proves to be better than that, but I don't think we can count on it.

From his San Francisco game tape? He's not even "Nate Livings" good.

Fleming's contract for a young player with starting experience is pretty solid if you compare it to like contracts. For example, the Texans gave RT Breno Giacomini a one year $2.75M deal and he was 31 years old last year.
You are on fire today hoss

I feel that Livings was a little more polished by the time we signed him. He had started 47 games. Martin has started 24, and most of those starts came in his first two years. So there's possibly more upside with him, but that doesn't mean he'll improve. I think he's a good guy to test out, but that's all at this point. If he develops into a quality backup, then good for us. If he somehow develops into a quality starter, then our front office and coaches deserve credit for mining him.

Same here.

Let's see how good Alexander can be as a coach.

I doubt Flemming came here to be a guard. He came to show he can start at RT. My biggest question is when do we draft a left tackle given Smiths back injury?

I will say this makes me lean toward Fleming at RT and Collins at LG. Why talk to Collins about the possibility of moving if it isn't a strong consideration?

If the team just planned to leave him at right tackle, then I'm sure they would have told Collins that instead. All of Stephen's comments regarding signing a fifth starter make me feel that Collins will be moved.

maybe this is why Georgia OL Isaiah Wynn is still not an Official 30 Invite.....only OG on the list so far is Hernandez.
But OT Kolton Miller is.(future swing T).

I feel like this is a disaster waiting to happen. I'm glad it's only one year. The Patriots are all about quick passes, it's not hard to block a rusher for a couple seconds.

This coaching staff wants Dak to sit in the pocket like 10 yr vet romo which means actually blocking for double what he's probably used to.

This isn't the team for Fleming, he just might not know it yet

Because they don't know if they will get an OG high in the draft yet.

Again, why say anything? There's no reason to inform a player that you might move him if you don't think there's a good possibility of it.

If Dallas is thinking that it might get an OG high in the draft, then it has no reason to tell Collins he might be moved to guard.

It is safe to assume that they won't move Collins as speculated. This contract pretty much makes that so.

If it didn't work out with Fleming, they are going to waste a whole camp with Collins at guard then jerk him back to RT? I don't think that is in the cards.

This is them paying for a swing tackle/draft insurance more than renting a starting RT for a year.

Agreed...............that contract is swing tackle money, not starter money.

Collins is staying at RT now so does this mean Marcus Martin is going to be the starter at LG? Not sure I like that, the dude didn't even play at snap with the 0-16 Browns last year and his grades in SF were horrific.

Will Hernandez is going to be a pick

I can see us trading back up into late 1st or early 2nd

3 picks in the top 50
If they are unwilling to make our all pro Martin the highest paid guard in the history of the NFL, he walks next year.

These guys are rentals until we draft a couple guys and give them a year.

Weird signing, unless he was promised the start
I can see wanting to play on our oline to audition for a big contract next year
But only if you get to start

Otherwise he's just burning a year of his career for some cash, when he should be trying to hit big with his next contract

You can only get what the market dictates.

I wouldn’t kill Martin over riding the bench in Cleveland - he was behind Joel Bitonio and Kevin Zeitler, who are two of the better guards in the AFC, despite playing for a winless team.

If you want to kill him, kill him over not making it to the end of his rookie deal as a third round pick on a talent starved team like the 49ers. Martin was a subpar player in San Francisco.

Odd that there wasn't more of a market for Fleming. The rest of the league must think he sucks.
I bet Philly’s D ends don’t think he sucks. NE’s O moved, pretty much, up and down the field vs Philly’s D in the Super Bowl and Fleming never gave up a sack.
