You didn't.....but I promise you that is and will be the theme about the Andy Dalton justifications and overlooking/dismissing just HIS play with Cincy. Trust me.

He hasn't been a regular on the highlight reel the past four years but if one is going to be realistic, that cupboard was bare. Dalton could do well with the talent and coaching here in Dallas for a couple of years if necessary.

One of the most overlooked things on this thread?

Signing Dalton at $3M cap hit and cutting Rush means we upgraded from Rush to Dalton for only $900k since Rush was set to earn $2.1M.

Just incredibly good signing

It really is! Not sure how we can;t all get behind this. Even *if* Andy takes the starter job....it would mean the coaches have seen that he is...better. We'll have to trust our new coaches and stop bickering about it.

This is a win win win move no matter what.

Dalton’s playoff numbers, 55.7% completion, 1 TD, 6 INT, 3.9 Y/A, 57.8 rating in 4 games all WC losses.

This is during Dalton’s prime with All Pro receivers AJ Green, Pro Bowler Gresham, thousand yard rushers Benson and Hill....

Dak’s playoff numbers 64.1% completion 5TD, 2 INT, 7.7 Y/A, 95.7 rating, 1-2 record.

One and done if Cowboys must depend on Dalton for a playoff game.

The Cincy players you've mentioned, while good, aren't as good as Zeke, Amari, Gallup, et al. And don't forget the Cowboys OL. Dalton got sacked 37 times in 2019.

IMO if this puts pressure on Dak to sign a deal for more years than Dak wants to then he needs to fire his agent.

Dak has stated in the past that he's relying strictly upon his agent to do what's best. Evidently, his agent is the one demanding a shorter contract. The Cowboys FO is intent upon signing him and has said this all along. What's obviously holding things up is his agent's stubborn refusal to accept an already generous contract offer with the notion of demanding yet another one a year or two sooner.

Yep. Andy is a smart QB who doesn’t have a rocket arm. He has good mobility. He’s a perfect fit for a McCarthy offense.

He's basically Jon kitna like.
Average arm but hes a scrappy heady very serviceable experienced backup who when he plays within his limits he effectively bus drive a game when all his surroundings are also working with him.

And he's mobile enough to adlib to bail himself out of some trouble if it breaks down for him.
Hes just not exceptional at anything or possess exceptional tools or areas of a game that makes him standout.

And when it gets tough for him, he tends to force plays and takes himself out of those limits. Then comes disaster or ineffectiveness. But as a backup who would sub and play in emergency occasions such what saints ala teddy Bridgewater and Matt Moore with chiefs had to critically step, dalton would be so ideal as well. :flagwave:

It is still extra work. I admit its not the same thing, but Abe makes a good point. While it is a benefit to being with this franchise, Dak has had to carry himself a certain way and earn the right to be sought after. Then he has to show up and make his money. Its not free money. You certainly cant look at it dollar for dollar.
My point is it's not "the work" that you would typically find "regular people" engage in. Like grocery stocking, fast food closer on the weekends. They fly you in, take the limo to the shoot, have a catered lunch, probably a nice hotel before or after.... tended to hand and foot as "the talent".

":work". mkay!

I certainly don;t begrudge him or anyone for it. It's great money and a very sweet gig, far as "work" goes.

Apparently, the sticking point is not the money. It's the length of the contract.

This post reflects truly sharing from a TEAM perspective. For that I commend you.

So we start Dak against horrible teams for a blow out win then we start Dalton against good teams or games that matter

win win situation

joking aside this is the perfect pick up

LMAO at the usual haters in thread thinking that Daltons gonna take Daks job. Daks job isn’t in danger now it may light a fire over negotiations but #4 will be under center

and if he isn’t then is it all bad no not all Daks a top ten qb and if he gets beat out which is unlikely then it’s a win for the team

You sound emotional about another mans money with no stats or facts to back it up. Your personal bias is clouding your judgement. The other 28 qbs didnt get paid after them that point is null. You not knowing about markets tells me all i need to know. Go sit at the little kiddies table
as is yours I mean its Jerrys money you say daks worth more and should be paid, hows that different..Hypocrisy bro..
