The Cowboys still are deciding whether to place Tony Romo on short-term injured reserve next week. That would take the starting quarterback out for the first eight weeks of the

If they do, the benefit is that it opens a roster spot.

If they do, he also might not get his starting job back.

Isn't it so strange to talk about? I remember his first passes against the Giants and now we have to think about implications of an outstanding Prescott

There are so many reasons why re-inserting Romo for an outstanding Prescott would be essentially catastrophic to the team chemistry, but I can't get into them here. Happy to take it to PM.

They absolutely have to put him on the list, if for no other reason to avoid the temptation of rushing him back. Once he's on, he is ineligible to return for 6 weeks and, really, he should sit those 6 weeks. With this type of injury, rushing him back could really make things a lot worse.

I've seen 6 weeks as the minimum, so if they're wavering I'd say its less serious then reported.

The Cowboys have reported nothing as far as how long this injury is. The 6-10 weeks is pure speculation.

Doctors have said that the 6-10 week timetable seems like it's on the long end.

David Carr said he had the injury and Romo should be back quick and could probably play week 1.

IMO, he'll be out 2 weeks minimum and if Dak has success he'll stay out. I'm thinking 3 losses is a magic number and as long as we stay away from 3 losses he'll stay off the field. JMO

I think he should go on season ending IR....it would be best for him and the team. We should sign a 3rd QB because i dont think Showers is NFL worthy. I know this isnt a popular choice but thats how i feel, and furthermore i would highly recommend Romo consider retirement. The team needs to start planning for the future, this notion that Romo needs to get a ring is ridiculous, there is a very slim chance that could happen this year or next.

He was having to "manage" his back before this injury, so...........

The insanity continues.
