Dallas is now trying to get their pick of the vet min guys to use as roster filler. While certainly less important than a starting DT, this isn't dumb per se. Given how many injuries happen in the NFL, virtually everyone on the roster is going to play so these guys matter.

Just because they’re not bringing in any big names on Monday doesn’t mean they’re now only going for “roster filler”. They’ve only used half of the $26M cap space they made with all those moves last week. I think there’s one more significant move they have in mind.

Yeah, Jones would be depth. Can't completely count on Pollard until he proves he is 100% and I like Davis but think we need some insurance. Jones was decent in Tampa but got lost in the shuffle in KC. I would consider a cheap vet at RB for sure and would draft one. We also have the young guy with dreads that got hurt don't we? His name escapes me but pretty sure he was ahead of Davis in camp.

Nothing wrong with filling out the roster with some depth.

I bet all three of these guys receive the same two year offer. Fowler is angling over the same deal I bet. Sign all 4 of those guys and DT has to be the target in round 1.

Ronald Jones did average 4.1 YPC last year with very limited carries. Best year was two years ago when he averaged 5.1 and nearly ran for 1,000 yards. The next year, he averaged 4.2.

This is the kind of vet pickup we should expect as insurance for Pollard and a possibly No. 2 back. It doesn't preclude us from also drafting a back.

Rico Dowdle, but the Cowboys never extended an offer to him so he's an unrestricted free agent.

Edoga has been a tackle starter and reserve. I wonder if we see him more as a backup guard. His height better fits that position.

Howard also would not be bad depth. Has played pretty well when called upon.

If we replace Elliott with Jones, McGovern with Edoga and Gifford with Howard, we may not be gaining much, but I can't say we'd be losing anything either. These are not necessarily improvements, but not every replacement is going to be an improvement. All three would essentially be backups with Jones the most in line to pick up some carries if we don't draft a back, which I'm pretty sure we will.
