Saleh is a very good DC, but we need a great HC.

I keep hearing abt offensive/defensive minded coaches, but will they be good HC’s?

I recall when Jerry was hiring Parcells replacement everyone was saying we had to get a 3-4 minded defensive HC. But why? Wade had proven to be a great DC but only a mediocre HC previously.
We needed a good HC and a 3-4 DC. As it turned out, Wade proved again he wasnt a good HC.
That was a ridiculous situation. Hiring an inexperienced OC before the HC is about as stupid as it gets. Typical Jerry! After Parcells left it was Jerry's moronic decisions that ruined that team, not the HC. Then Wade becomes the fall guy in 2010 and you knew it was coming since 2007. Jerry's plan was pretty obvious to move his boy toy up the ladder.

I think he would be a solid head coach, just add a good OC and you are ready to go!

He knows the Shanny offense well and how to defend it, young and seems professional.

I hope they are serious!

If they're serious about hiring him they'll put Prescott in the garage during his visit.

With all the talent the Jones boys are going to put on the field, does not really matter who the coach is.

I'm shocked that many of you aren't happy that we're talking with him.

The man's a legitimate coach from outside the Jerry circle. Compared to the slop that's been circulated (Jason Witten, looking at you), Saleh is prime Tom Landry. On top of that, he's not some soft quiet weird-looking small guy (ahem, Kellen Moore), but a real leader of men.

I get that his record with NY wasn't great, but his defense has always been fantastic and he had very real mitigating circumstances (really bad QB and really bad ownership together make a really bad team. And say what you want about Dak, but he's not nearly as bad as that dude they drafted in the first round. I literally don't remember his name and that was like three years ago.)

Even if we don't hire him, it's still extremely encouraging that we're taking a looksee.

Pardon my cynicism, but I'm inclined to assume that this is potentially big news, actually.

It suggests strongly that they want to get the RR checked off sooner, not later. Once they bring Saleh in, and presumably also interview Deion, the Joneses can hire whoever whenever.

It doesn't rule out waiting on Kellen Moore to become available, but it sure does erode a lot of my own confidence that KM was/is a heavy odds-on favorite.

Said in the other thread but I’ll repeat here that a positive for me with saleh is that it is at least someone who is outside of the Jerry bubble and the Jerry country club. That’s a start. I do think better dc than head coach but I’d take him over Moore.

Saleh would be a change in the Cowboys philosophy. The defensive line would be built up from the defensive line and we would probably get a young offensive coordinator from the Shanahan tree. I just don’t see it happening with the Witten rumors.

Saleh would not have personnel control. He'd be at the mercy of Frick and Frack just like everybody else.

That's great but he doesn't amount to a pimple on the derriere of Mike McCarthy as a head coach.

This place is nuts if they would like this change.

I’ve said people will regret Mike being gone because we likely end up with Kellen Moore and it won’t be the hot name candidates. I would rather take a chance with saleh than have Kellen but I also thought Mike would be back
