Fan dementia, I guess. He coached scared while he was here and no assistant coach got any more hate around here for it.

But hey, now he's tough, physical and brings pressure.
you are the best. I get your schtick. Im with you bro.

The only thing I remember about Zs exit was he had wanted to add blitz schemes to the 3-4 and BP said we don't do that here. Just like he did with Sean Payton before him. We had solid defenses while he was here. Its a different era but he hasn't been gone that long

Zimm Has a Track Record Of Success..No Denying That
AS Defensive Coordinator his teams had the following records:

2000 Dallas Cowboys: 5-11
2001 Dallas Cowboys: 5-11
2002 Dallas Cowboys: 5-11
2003 Dallas Cowboys: 10-6
2004 Dallas Cowboys: 6-10
2005 Dallas Cowboys: 9-7
2006 Dallas Cowboys: 9-7
2007 Atlanta Falcons: 4-12
2008 Cincinnati Bengals: 4-11-1
2009 Cincinnati Bengals: 10-6
2010 Cincinnati Bengals: 4-12
2011 Cincinnati Bengals: 9-7
2012 Cincinnati Bengals: 10-6
2013 Cincinnati Bengals: 11-5

As Head Coach:
2014 Minnesota Vikings: 7-9
2015 Minnesota Vikings: 11-5
2016 Minnesota Vikings: 8-8
2017 Minnesota Vikings: 13-3
2018 Minnesota Vikings: 8-7-1
2019 Minnesota Vikings: 10-6
2020 Minnesota Vikings: 7-9
2021 Minnesota Vikings: 8-9

Just one good season where a Mike Zimmer team as DC or HC made it beyond the divisional round.

He is the definition of mediocre, and where he goes mediocrity follows. Thus, he's a perfect fit and return to the Garrett years 8-8 standard.

What's the most puzzling is that we have plenty of Cowboys fans inexplicably being okay with a return to mediocrity. Don't you want more? What did you see from Zimmer last time he was with Dallas that leaves you wanting more mediocrity? What did he ever do outside of Dallas to warrant the enthusiasm some of you have for his return?

We gave up NFL shame records with Zimmer. The most 200 yard rushers allowed is still an NFL record of shame two decades later.

So, if I'm DC, you mean I'm now answering for the wins and losses for the entire team?

Interesting way to look at it.

Figure there might be a reason you prefer that way, and not this way....

... since there are quite a few single digits (... ie, indicative of upper-third finishes in the entire league)... and even a few #1s.

No issue not liking the zimmer hire but don’t you think it’s a bit disingenuous posting the teams record overall and not the defensive rankings of the units he coached? I don’t even know overall how his units rank but this seems like cherry picking data to fit a narrative

I am totally good with this hire. He will bring a pressure defense that should be disciplined and focused on stopping the run which is severely needed.
After watching film of his "AA" linebacker package (with Minnesota) it would be a welcome change from using safeties to do the work of "men". It's a scheme that forces the quarterback to make tight perimeter throws and is predicated on pre-snap confusion. On film it often resulted in receiver options being kept home to deal with potential A gap pressure from both linebackers. You would never know if Zimmer was going to rush the A gap or drop out of it. It also resulted in some lineman being inadvertently double or triple teamed, which allowed for a free rusher because of the confusion pre and post snap. It forces the quarterback to hold the ball longer than he would like.

I think if Zimmer is the guy, that will be indication that McCarthy was genuinely given some say in the decision. The mutual respect between them over time has been evident.
Zimmer makes the Joneses feel comfortable. He won’t stand up to them. We seen this circus before.
