After watching film of his "AA" linebacker package (with Minnesota) it would be a welcome change from using safeties to do the work of "men". It's a scheme that forces the quarterback to make tight perimeter throws and is predicated on pre-snap confusion. On film it often resulted in receiver options being kept home to deal with potential A gap pressure from both linebackers. You would never know if Zimmer was going to rush the A gap or drop out of it. It also resulted in some lineman being inadvertently double or triple teamed, which allowed for a free rusher because of the confusion pre and post snap. It forces the quarterback to hold the ball longer than he would like.

Mike Zimmer's AA defensive packages explained- per Jon Gruden

It's as if Jerry has completely washed away all the bad memories with Johnny Walker....My God :banghead:

After this blows up in his face.....the next thing you know he will try and hire John Madden....

Go get Johnny Manziel....

Hell....Adrian Peterson still has a couple years left...

All those games Tyron missed.....It's like he still has @ least 2 more good years.....

Might as well bring back TO and Whitten since they both still wanna play.

Can he bring D. Hunter with him? Then use Parsons to pressure the gaps.

Zimmer makes the Joneses feel comfortable. He won’t stand up to them.

My goodness gracious.

Folks. Please. If you're gonna tell everyone why Zimmer would make such a pitiful hire, at least cite things that are actually relevant.

No offense to this poster, nor the one who wanted to denigrate Zimmer as a DC for what Marvin Lewis was responsible for... or, in this case, as far as I'm aware, what Mike McCarthy will be responsible for still (... dealing with the Joneses).

I'm all for listening to valid criticisms, but the key word there is valid.

Yes!!! The return of Anthony Barr!!!
The one linebacker that I did like from zims defense was eric kendricks.....he was solid against the run but probably one of the best cover linebackers.....wonder what ever happened to him?

Aside from BB.....Zimm has done a better job at building/running a defense than all the other available candidates.......if he's hired, he'd have a very explosive offense....something he seldom had in Dallas, Cincinnati, and Minnesota...

I recall the GROZ theme sarcastically being brought back after Zim enjoyed success after leaving the Cowboys. :p:p People here get a perverse joy in coaches getting fired despite the fact the Jerry and his brain trust committees choose the players, choose the coordinators, and generally futz things up.
