Cowboys to reset RB Market

What is this clickbait headline silliness? Resetting the RB market is what Dallas did when they bent over while wearing a Speedo and a lot of suntan lotion when Zeke held out. Going cheap (one year late in free agency vet contract or rookie) is what teams like the Chiefs do. You'll also notice that Philly didn't pay their free agent back (Sanders) and instead went for the bargain option. Dallas helped support the top of the market by franchising Pollard, just like the Raiders and Giants did.

They did. Pollard. They underutilized him during his rookie contract to justify the massive salary to Zeke. Then by the time they wanted to feature Pollard he was coming off a broken leg and never the same.
It took a few games for the leg to come around. That's not why Pollard was off and on most of the season. Getting hit at or behind the LOS was a huge problem this year in Dallas. Poor scheme and run calling!

Run game is more oline scheme than the back in 2024 unless you have a transcendent guy
To piggyback off this. Trade Aaron Jones for Pollard in the playoffs game. Pollard would've destroyed us just like jones did and jones would've been running into a wall. That play theu kept running over and over with the tight end chopping micahs knees. Oh yea, Tony would've ate real good

They invested heavy in their analytics department last year after the draft.

Analytics 101 (as far as roster building goes) is don't pay for RBs.

Cowboys should take the top RB on their board in the 4th round and then, if Blake Watson from Memphis, Kendall Milton from Georgia, or Jawhar Jordan from Lousiville is there in the 6th you can double dip.

Sign a vet like Moss, and use a mid round pick on a RB. You can get a good running back anywhere in rounds 3-6.
just like Deuce.

Granted, most teams aren't taking RB's in the 1st. Lately 1-2 will go in round one. But thinking you will get a quality back in the 5th round or later is unrealistic. We'll end up with guys like Deuce or Bo Scarborough. KC and Pacheko are a once or twice in a decade thing.

Most RB's now are found in rounds 2-4. Even then, you'll be hard pressed waiting til the late 4th to find one.

I said rounds 3-6. Just off the the top of my head:

Kyren Williams (5th)
Rachaad White (3rd)
De’Von Achane (3rd)
Tyjae Spears (3rd)
Chuba Hubbard (4th)
Kheaton Mitchell (undrafted)
Jaylen Warren (undrafted)

Like I said these guys can be found anywhere..just trust the scouts to do their damn job and dont play the nepotism game.

Yet again a year too late.

The paid a ‘good’ TE franchise money two years ago and then did it again last year with a ‘good’ running back.
Our fake GM has no clue how to plan or manage a team. Last year we released Zeke and franchised Pollard coming off a broken leg. We basically knew it would be Pollard's last season. Yet we waited til the 6th round to take a back, and then it was diminutive Deuce and a nod to his dad.

Now we are left with no primary back and only three picks before the very bottom of round 5. Or looking at a bargain basement FA who will be in his 5th or 6th season.

3rd rd works for me
Ray Davis might slip some; I like him
he is short and powerful and he is a real threat in the passing game

Point is, far more are found in the 2nd and 3rd rounds than later. There may be a couple that pan out who go in round 5 or later, but good luck being in position or the team to get them. For instance Kyren Williams went a few picks ahead of us in that 5th round. To get him we would've needed to have taken him in the 4th.

You are right. We may have to grab the best available in the 3rd. Late 5th (expected Comp pick) may be too late.

This is a very poorly managed franchise.
They react in Dallas and slowly at that.
