I have said it a hundred times. Physically the man is incredible. Talent wise he lacks nothing. On the right team at the right time he could be fantastic. As a leader he is awful. A selfish toxic cancer. Now he is old. He serves no purpose here other than to cling to a past that we should be trying to forget.
I wont go quite to the extent of 'selfish toxic cancer', but agree that he shouldn't be brought back for his leadership skills. Its certainly time for new voices of leadership with this team, but I'm not sure DLaw every really was one to begin with. I think the reason the Cowboys should be open to brining him back is simply because they dont have a legitimate run defender at the position aside from Kneeland and he missed so much time this year you really dont know what you have in him. If Dlaw played for another team the last 5 years he would probably be someone we would be pointing out as a low cost FA to solidify the position this offseason.

Personally I would prioritize brining back Golston over DLaw, but if Golston is out of the budget I think DLaw would be a solid backup option. Maybe I'm underestimating what his market with look like in FA but I would think he would be affordable and open to a reduced role.

Don't worry for all of those out there who are gonna miss him next year he will still show up on the salary cap spreadsheet to the tune of 7.5 mil. Gone but not forgotten.

It’s a silly *** take. If you can’t form an opinion on someone without a personal bias then what are we doing here? Worst mistake he made was signing here. A team not serious about winning. But he has a family so maybe it was important to be here.
It was the best decision he ever made. You think this clown ever cared about a Super Bowl? I don't know if you lived through the glory years, but if this dude went out and said "we tired" after the most humiliating loss in our history back in 1994? He's kicked out by his own teammates. He's cleared to play now and doesn't want to.

He had "injury" issues down the stretch of his contract year and Jerry still paid him. But that's what this leader of the Hot Boyz was all about. Was a baller before getting paid, became a master of "the little things" after.

Maybe he'll go somewhere that actually has accountability and he'll regain a bit of form, but get him out of Dallas so our young guys don't adopt his weak, "tired" excuse after we get kicked upside down by an opponent. He's just one part of this sad, loser culture that we've been forced to stomach for years. Time for someone to lead and say losing is NOT acceptable.

Never understood the DLaw hate around here. He was a damn solid player for Dallas. Will hate to see him go play for another team, but wish him luck on his next endeavor.
His CAP hit has put him in the top 8 DE's each of the last 4 seasons .....if you're going to play hard ball ,and get the contract, you better play up to it. DLaw is a prime example of the overpaid decent player that Jerry loves and cant do without.

..maybe get 1-2 yr cheap deal. He still was our best run stopper.

Nonetheless, I say he had great career in Dallas, minus the ring.

He’s just being honest. They got drilled by 50….what excuse were you looking for? That the Packers were a 50 point beating better than us? You don’t have to listen to him just judge their actions….they showed you why they lost. I think the problem you guys have is living the last. It’s not 1972 anymore.

No, the problem is fans who have become complacent with this type of loser mentality, and more importantly, an owner and GM who has done the same. I wasn't looking for any excuse. As you say, they showed us why they got smoked. We already knew they didn't want to be out there, and he WAS honest, and didnt even care enough to at least try to sound embarrassed. That's the problem. That's the culture.

We don't have to go back to 1993 to see a winning culture here; we just need people who want to win.

If you have a choice between re-signing Lawrence and signing Osa Odighizuwa who would you keep? In my mind it is Osa every day. If DLaw wants to come back for $3 million I would keep him but I would prefer to keep guys like Asa and Golston.

Yeah I hate that. I wish salaries weren’t dislosed to fans. It’s like Netflix streaming numbers lol….they don’t get disclosed and thankfully so. A guys talent should be determined based on his actual tape not what Jerry decided to pay him.
I could not agree with you more my friend. I am actually old enough, born in 1971, to remember when you didn't know players salaries at all in the late 70s and early 80s. I remember when Nolan Ryan in baseball became the first guy to make a million bucks per season, lol. Wow, Im getting old, lol.
