If he makes a dent on what is a very very bad ST unit, great. But I am struggling to see why you would make a move involving a choice for special teams when we have serious serious issues with depth on both lines.

I don't think the Cowboys are done finalizing their roster.

Probably not, which kind of sucks if you think about it.

Dallas hasn't finalized it's roster because they're about to make moves picking up players who weren't good enough when other teams were finalizing their own rosters.

They've been pretty successful with churning the bottom of their roster the last few years. Actually, they've been great at it.

As a 6th rounder, if someone becomes a useful backup you have a success. If they become even a poor starter they've out played their position. Holloman has shown a few flashes and we have a decent ST player who we get to work with for the year, and who knows maybe he develops and the the starting SOLB next year. Probably won't but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

People were complaining about how bad the special teams have been. We do something to strengthen our special teams, and people can't help but complain about it... We probably gave them a 7th round draft pick.

Here is what the ESPN Chiefs blog is saying about Edgar Jones and the trade:

Amid LB glut, Chiefs deal Jones to Dallas

The Kansas City Chiefs lightened their load at linebacker by trading backup Edgar Jones to the Dallas Cowboys for a draft pick. Jones had a strong training camp and is a solid special-teams player, but with nine other linebackers the Chiefs found him expendable.

The Chiefs have Pro Bowlers in Tamba Hali and Justin Houston as their starting outside linebackers. The backups are now veteran Frank Zombo and rookie Mike Catapano, a seventh-round draft pick.

The trade leaves the Chiefs one player short of the NFL roster limit of 53. Look for them to add a player off waivers Sunday, but probably not a linebacker.

Same type of people who are like... we drafted Frederick in the 1st round? WTH! Then say... man this offensive line is no good, we don't do anything to fix it...

Okay so we traded down a round in the end of next year's draft. Not sure I like it but the picks that late are sorta fungible anyway.

That is where we should look for potential cuts/late round trades... to teams that have a glut at one position where we have a need... like DL.

Nice move by the team.

Would have preferred to not have slid down a round with a pick in this trade (would have looked much better as a waiver move). The special teams did need to be addressed - the units looked brutal in the preseason.

They still have a good deal of work to do on the depth with both lines, as well as finding a backup MLB (unless they envision Durant or Carter sliding over).

Yeah about that.. What is it exactly that they go by?

This guy better be Bill freakin Bates if your going to give up picks for special teams guys.

We didn't lose a pick, just moved from 6th to 7th. Look a litter better now?
