I thought at first it said we gave up a 6th and 7th. Nearly blew a gasket.

That is where we should look for potential cuts/late round trades... to teams that have a glut at one position where we have a need... like DL.

Nice move by the team.

This exactly. It would appear that we didn't cut McCray because we can't afford to take the hit on special teams. The Special Teams play hasn't been good, and adding another special teams stud might go a long way in preventing the embarrassing plays that we saw in preseason.

the previous ST coach got a special ST draft, now Biscia is getting all the players he needs not to suck and at least be decent.

Keep in mind the Chiefs will probably be in the bottom of the league this season, so that 7th will be really early in the round. Silver linings!

We're potentially only dropping down only a few spots not a whole round. That late in the draft it doesn't matter much. For a good ST player and LB depth. The guy had a solid preseason

Well since our 6th round pick will be the last in that round (before the supplementals) and their 7th will be in the early 7th, we're really just moving down a few spots for a top ST player. :)

People were complaining about how bad the special teams have been. We do something to strengthen our special teams, and people can't help but complain about it... We probably gave them a 7th round draft pick.

We gave them a sixth and got back their seventh.

I look forward to Jerry Jones lamenting how he needs to get that sixth back in the 2014 draft. He did it after giving up the seventh for Cook.

There are still players to be had at the end of these drafts. As silly as it sounds, it's perfectly sound reasoning to want to get those picks back.

Have you seen Dallas's special teams??? They could use all of the help they can get.

It is very rare that a contending team takes special teams so serious they make a trade at the final cuts like this.

I get the idea we needed to improve the unit. This just seems like a drastic and risky way to address it.

6th for a 7th is minimal value. For a core ST guy, it is a good deal

the 2009 special teams draft, perhaps you have forgotten about it.

Of course I remember that, but you referred to the current ST coach getting everything he needs. Like who? Edgar Jones and Rosario?

NOTE: I would indeed like to forget about the 2009 draft though.

The bigger issue here isn't the compensation to KC, but rather that this puts us +1 on cuts.

Hadn't read this before I posted (I was typing my post). Exactly what I was thinking/hoping about dropping only a few spots.
