"We're trying to move up 10-20 spots from the 7th round to the 6th round, so we've agreed to send you as well".

when i read that they were working the phones, I was excited that they would be bringing OL, DL or LB, your positions of real need. I should of known they were looking for a special teamer!

All the players they've found off the street. Especially last year with all the injuries. Sims sticks out but there are others.

Sims doesn't qualify as "churning" the bottom of the roster.

Sims is a "need anyone with a pulse to fill in because everyone else is out" type of thing.

I was serious when I asked because I can't think of many of these last minute moves that have turned out to do much. The only one I can really even think of in recent memory might be Laurent Robinson.

Tell me the last time you heard of a trade like this and then qualify how it is just normal and what good teams do.

You really need to complain huh? Drastic and risky for this deal is pure breathless overreaction

Nothing from Broaddus carries much weight anymore. He is basically Mickey Spagnola with a scouting background these days.

Film not bad he says. Guy probably had a couple snaps per week at most and Broaddus has reviewed them all in the last hour.

He qualifies in my book. Basically anyone they pick up off the street, from other teams practice squads is what I was referring to. Not just others cuts on final cut day.

Not trying to go Spagnola here, but if he were a "core ST guy" why would the Chiefs trade him?

Keep in mind, they have perhaps the best ST coach in the league in Dave Toub on their payroll before you answer.

You realize you're talking about a player who made their 53 right? So he's not someone they didn't value.

And as to your previous post, you have just as good a chance at landing a good player in the 6th as to having this guy come in and have a Laurent Robinson type of season for you.

It's hard to take guys like you seriously when you fret over the little things like this that when you take a step back actually are prudent moves.

We can say what we want about how bad out O line was last year but imagine how bad it woulda been if we hadn't traded for Cook

Looking at the deal and I don't see how this is bad since we just swapped our what I believe will be a LATE 6th rd pick for KC's early 7th round pick.

We need to solidly our ST and I'd rather see that void filled now than wait for a late round pick in next years draft.

I get the feeling that if Jerry Jones trades a draft pick for a special teamer then he thinks this team is close. He doesn't trade unless he thinks he is getting something of true need. A special team guy is found pretty easily so why trade a pick for one? It is not a very good trade unless it truly fits a need. JMHO but he is really excited about this year.

the guy who responded to Broaddus blogs/tweets as a Chiefs guy, his take was notable I thought.

I'm not wild about it. But I'll take a wait and see approach here. I hope the scouting department really likes him though, because you would think you could find this caliber of player on the cuts. Guess they didn't see anyone who tickled their fancy.
