So we're probably getting about 3-4 comp picks. Gave up a 6th for Swaim a conditional for CM. you can't trade comp picks. So substitute the comp picks for the traded picks and it's a wash.
He's a bruiser. We needed a bruiser. We gave up a conditional 7th round pick.
What's not to love about this?
If he's lazy or crazy, we let him go and get an RB next year in the draft or possibly sign a FA or trade for one. For a late rounder, this was worth the risk.
And not a thing you posted answered my question.
Do you totally believe that when an obviously talented player fails that it is not due in some part to laziness? And what exactly comprises the label someone gets when called "immature"? Does that scream hard working, doing their best consistently? Not to me.
So what kept him from doing the right thing, all the time? What would make the coach make this observation?
Honestly, I don't know if he is lazy. But I am not naïve to think that if a player does not realize their potential that laziness plays no part in that.
That goes against being inconsistent or having a poor work ethic.
It is a real dice roll. But if you do not value 7th round choices, I guess you could love it.
Just would have preferred giving up the pick for West, who is a little of the opposite of Michael on the personality spectrum, at least from my understanding.
Ever stop to think that a team misjudged a players potential? Maybe said player isn't fit for that team?
And no, you don't know if he's lazy or not. What you have to go by is what the coaches said about him, and they all spoke of him favorably. When the HC says a player is the "Most improved", that goes against the "immature" claims. That goes against being inconsistent or having a poor work ethic.
The fourth camp should be those who think there's nothing wrong with taking a low risk flier on a guy who should come with tampered expectations. Every now and then these types of moves pan out.
And it goes back to my earlier point.
Teams are not going to blast players publicly.
And why you areally relying on last year's "most improved" comment is beyond me. All that tells me is that he was not fulfilling his potential before and then sort of did. Then a year later, he is replaced and basically given away.
All anyone can do is hope the change in scenery and dynamic makes a difference.

Sorry, don't see any downside at all to this trade. Very good move
I'll never understand how twisted up some get over adding another back. Maybe it's anxiety over the fact what they thought the team had, they didn't. At least as far as the FO saw it. I think going 4 deep at RB is where you want to be in a committee. I'm excited about CM. Every back here knows he can look good and eventually get paid by running hard for this team.
I don't understand all the hand wringing over this trade.
Guys we gave up a 7th round pick for an athletic bruising running back. If he doesn't cut it ..... We cut him. What am I missing here
"It's frustrating because he's such a good player. He has such talent. We want him to 'get it.' 'Here's what it takes for you to play in this league.' You should say to yourself: 'I'm a second-round draft pick, I haven't played in two years, what do I need to do?' So we tell him, you need to become more consistent.
I told him, talent-wise, your talent scale is higher than Turbo's. But, dependability-wise, professional-wise, you need to learn something from him. So the frustrating part is not seeing him be what he can be as a player. So, I just want to see that happen for him. We try to coach him the right way. Be positive with him. We tell him, 'It's not about you proving us wrong, prove us right. You were a second-round draft pick. Prove us right, why we drafted you.' So that's why we keep encouraging him."
From Seattle RB coach Sherman Smith:
So why wasn't he more dependable and professional than Turbin?
