The draft compensation is not bad actually. The WR room just got a lot better. GP as a #2 with the other guys filling out the rest is about all you could ask for as long attitudes stay in check.

They either sign him or will get a comp pick back if he signs elsewhere. They gave up hardly anything.

They won those games scoring 23 and 19 points against us. Not exactly thrashing our defense. We lost both those games because we couldnt move the ball. We actually got key stops late in both games, but did nothing with them on offense

last 8 or 9 games we played bottom feeding offenses 4 times....giants, carolina, cinci, tampa was average defense and the last two games were meaningless games for the opposing teams.

and even his improvement had him at average at best, better than the crap he was earlier in the year when we played tough opponents and he was abused, so you saw improvement over the season. perhaps true. but his play still sucked for a highly paid RT.

DT, LB, Saftey were bigger major needs than WR2

And we played without our starting QB and WR(last two games). What's your point? The only bigger need then WR2 is DT. As far as LB, they traded for Murray, signed Sanborn(good signing IMO) and have Clarke and Liufau for the start of the season.. And maybe we get some good news with Overshown returning early. Not expecting much from Clarke and let's see where Eberfus lines up Parsons. Far from a disaster.

Not sure it even matter if its DT,LB and Safety vs WR2 since who is this DT in this made up scenario. What are we paying him? Who is trading him away?
On this team with the roster we currently have I do believe a WR2 is more impactful to our teams success than a DT. The players we have at DT are a higher caliber than the players we had after CD at WR. You can scheme and rotate to hide not having an amazing DT. You can't do this for a WR2. He is on an island starting every game and playing the majority of snaps. If we only have CD teams can scheme to take him away and then we have real trouble.

So given our roster Pickens will have a bigger impact on the team than bringing in another LB, DT or Safety.

Do you remember the season before last the Eagles went through several DC's during the season? Their defense was truly garbage. No one could fix it... Well in comes Vic Fangio and last year they were number 1 in the league on defense with primarily the same group of players.

somebody wanted to trade away Pickens. go in with the right pick and trade for a proven DT or LB or saftey. were there any calls made? probably not. those positions don't sell as many jerseys as pickens will.

the WR2 impact will be in regular season. come post season, if we make it there, its one and done again until we fix the defense.

we have Osa, who is an above average 3-tech. Mazi sucks and we are throwing bunch of bodies at the problem hoping one stands out somehow. we have been bad in run defense because of the DL and LBs and those are huge weaknesses on the team. we have been average in run defense for several years and throwing UDFAs and 7th round picks hoping one sticks is not going to solve the problem.

eagles were 3rd on defense in 2022, dropped in 2023 and they made changes. we have been sucking for a while but we wait until the coaches contracts run out before making changes. there is coaches dead money you know (according to jerry).

eagles had the #1 defense last year. their first 5 picks was defense. last year, their top 3 picks were defense. remember Dejean...
in 2022, 4 of the top 5 was defense.

they signed a bunch of players to defense in the past few off seasons.

they invest heavily on defense. they lost in the 4th quarter to KC in superbowl. they fixed their defense and dominated. they have been to two superbowls. we haven't sniffed CCG in 30 years. and we keep going after WRs and what not!

You wanting to trade up for Graham is a lot more than a 3rd rounder. It would have been a #2 and maybe a #1 or #2 next year to go from 12 to 4. That makes zero sense.

12-5 but in the playoffs the offense couldn’t run the football or get off of press conference. The receiver core just changed overnight. Now everyone is in their correct spot.

yet the defense couldn't stop the opposition in the three playoff games and got manhandled. all the offense in the world ain't going to translate to success in post season. gets the fans excited. but not see any trophies. we have seen this story 30 times and its failed each time.

SF controlled the clock for 33 minutes. they ran 32 times. and btw, it was the SF defense that suffocated the dallas offense. that defense led them. see a good defense helps you win. you don't need to score a lot to win games..... you get it now? they scored 19 and they won because they had a dominant defense.

Im excluding a player because he is a WR lol

They beat us on defense because we had one player they had to worry about. Take him away and we cant move the ball

Its interesting that you think having a QB that does not freeze up in the playoffs is not an important part of that.

We are getting a top number 2 receiver. They either sign him or get a comp pick back. They aren't giving up anything.

Defense has lots to prove but on paper this is the best defense we have had in a while. It matches the high powered offense. You get behind us then you will have to throw the football against our terrifying pass rush .
