TRADED Cowboys trade for George Pickens and 2027 6th for 2026 3rd and 2027 5th

somebody wanted to trade away Pickens. go in with the right pick and trade for a proven DT or LB or saftey. were there any calls made? probably not. those positions don't sell as many jerseys as pickens will.

the WR2 impact will be in regular season. come post season, if we make it there, its one and done again until we fix the defense.

we have Osa, who is an above average 3-tech. Mazi sucks and we are throwing bunch of bodies at the problem hoping one stands out somehow. we have been bad in run defense because of the DL and LBs and those are huge weaknesses on the team. we have been average in run defense for several years and throwing UDFAs and 7th round picks hoping one sticks is not going to solve the problem.

eagles were 3rd on defense in 2022, dropped in 2023 and they made changes. we have been sucking for a while but we wait until the coaches contracts run out before making changes. there is coaches dead money you know (according to jerry).

eagles had the #1 defense last year. their first 5 picks was defense. last year, their top 3 picks were defense. remember Dejean...
in 2022, 4 of the top 5 was defense.

they signed a bunch of players to defense in the past few off seasons.

they invest heavily on defense. they lost in the 4th quarter to KC in superbowl. they fixed their defense and dominated. they have been to two superbowls. we haven't sniffed CCG in 30 years. and we keep going after WRs and what not!
What the Eagles changed was the scheme and defensive coordinator. Many of the players fans think are so good now, like Jordan Davis, were considered bust before Fangio got there.
The also let guys like Hassan Redick go. Point is defense is so heavily reliant on scheme to produce. Offense is more reliant on talent to produce.

It's easy to complain and point to positions we need to fix on defense. Harder to say how and who you are going to bring in to fix it. Coaching and scheme is what will need to happen to make the biggest changes on defense. We can't have superstars at every position and shouldn't have to.

Anything we get from our other receiver's is gravy. Tolbert might get traded or cut.
I honestly thought he would be part of any deal. It would have made sense that Pittsburgh would want a receiver back in the compensation.

That team didn't allow Hurts to freeze up or show flaws... the RB, WR's, coaching, OL, defense all had his back.

Its intersting that I have to explain how teams win SB's. You expecting the Cowboys to win with less weapons, then its all on Dak when they don't... yall funny.
lmao...why don't you go tell Jerry how to win SB's? It's been thirty years. Maybe you should ask Jerra for a job?

He definitely tiptoes on the line and more often these days says screw you to the fans.

Pretty much, and that's kinda how I feel now about the McCarthy tenure. I mean, there's no other reason that I can think of as to why we shouldn't have been able to make an NFC Championship game at least once in the 3 12-5 seasons with how talented we were at the time.

See, I don't think of it that way mainly b/c of the contract, tho. Mingo would not have merited even a 5th if his contract didn't give you more than a year of control.
A 5th is what I felt he was worth and part of that was the contract. I wish Pickens had 2 years but he would have cost more had he had 2 years. I don’t hate the Pickens deal. He can step in and help right away

It says nothing about Mingo. Pick 114 for Mingo was not a bad move. He is going to be on the team and he will contribute.
Maybe. He didn’t get here till late in the season last year. But using him as 3rd WR to me takes more explosive players off the field. I’d love to see Turpin and blue both getting reps when Ed go 3 wide. Blue runs routes like a WR and both he and Turpin have the speed and ability to make big plays

Didn't read all 49 pages, but Dallas waived receiver Seth Williams to make room for Pickens on the roster.

And you are forgiven if you didn't know Seth Williams was even on the team.

doesn't change the fact they were top 10 just 3 years ago. then they fell two years ago. then they made changes...we tend to do the same thing over and over and expect different results. eagles have drafted and invested heavily on defense. the top ranking defense, had their first 5 picks on defensive side of the ball. they let players go when its time not worrying about dead cap (as jerry tends to keep everyone to the end of their contract).

I beg to differ, you need talent on defense as well. all the Mazi's of the world aren't going to make a difference.

Turpin is so small I think they want him to focus on return duties and maybe a jet sweep or two. Blue I don’t even know if he will even get reps at this point.
Blue should get reps. But I’m not talking about Turpin getting 20 snaps. Just some of the 3wide snaps along with blue. They bring speed and size isn’t an issue. Turpin played some last year and had 52 targets, made some plays and didn’t effect his returns.

Defense has lots to prove but on paper this is the best defense we have had in a while. It matches the high powered offense. You get behind us then you will have to throw the football against our terrifying pass rush .
really best defense we have had in a while? how. top 3 CBs are all coming off major injuries. their back ups were bottom of the depth chart and are only here because they are under contract. safties are old and cooked. their backups are UDFAs. who are the LBs exactly and Overshown the best of them is injured yet again. Mazi is the 1-tech again...and we drafted a guy in the 7th...that's is round 7....... parsons tends to disappear in big games and has been non-existent in post season. he has a podcast to run you know.

this defense is not better. its a collection of players and bunch of them on one year deals to fill a roster. our run defense still sucks and if we can't stop the run effectively, then all the pass rush isn't going to help you on a consistent 2nd and 4 and 3rd and 1.

Im excluding a player because he is a WR lol

They beat us on defense because we had one player they had to worry about. Take him away and we cant move the ball
so what he is a WR...he still rushed. we still gave up 169 rushing.... you excluded an offensive player. specially one that was known to be able to rush and had been used in that capacity.

but yeah, go ahead and pick and choose which players and stats to use to make a case....

doesn't change the fact, they ran the ball effectively. controlled the clock and controlled the game.

and yes, their elite defense kicked our rear....

On paper we have top end players in the secondary, at linebacker, and certainly on the defensive line but it has to all come together. I don’t blame you for being skeptical we all know this can blow up in our faces like 2020. You can’t really judge the defense until you see the scheme. You seem to think Parsons, Fowler, EZ, Osa, Bland, Revel, Diggs, and Overshown are scrubs. You can’t be farthest from the truth.

What will the comp pick be for Pickens when he walks after this year? lol
Depends on what he signs for elsewhere and if the Cowboys sign a free agent themselves to a comparable deal.

In other words, too early to tell. Could be as high as a 3rd round comp.
