That's highly doubtful after this trade.

Jones is a free agent following this season because the Steelers did not exercise the 5th year option of his rookie contract. But now that the Cowboys inherit that contract, can they now add the 5th year option (through 2027)????

No, this likely is worse. Elam was a 5th/6th swap. This is a 3rd/4th swap.
