Sure as hell a lot better than Cassel, Weeden, Moore, McGee, Orton or anything we have since Kitna.

we are seeing Dak getting better each game,he converted so many 3rd down this game. Its the red zone which is only problem right now and Dez and Co have to help him out there by getting open.

Sure, but sample size is still 2. If he has a worse game next week, it shouldn't necessarily affect how we feel about him.

The non-mistakes are really encouraging, though.

Concerning the onside kick, what a difference a week makes.

Some Cowboys fans were saying last week that the playcalling was too conservative. If the Cowboys had lost today's game, the coaching staff would have been ripped to shreds by the fans for the decision to try the onside kick.

You can't win sometimes.

There is a difference between opening up the offense and being idiotic..

Basking in a Cowboys victory and basking in a Cowboys victory while giving credit to Garrett for it are different things...

A victory is a victory. Was the team coached by someone other than Garrett today? No? Whine like a ***** when he loses. Give him credit when he wins. Otherwise, you're just a whiny douchebag. That's a fact. You can't have it both ways.

I have no problem with a surprise onside kick. The coaches upstairs probably saw the Commanders were susceptible to this. Just poor execution by Bailey. A little roll of the dice is okay with me. Regardless of outcome.

Last week it was a failure to finish. This week, it was finishing enough.

Too many field goals early in the game. With the way that the offense dominated play in the first half, only being ahead 13-10 was a bad sign. Especially with the Commanders set to receive the second half kickoff. Sure enough, the Commanders score a touchdown to take the lead. Then, the most important thing in the game took place - the Cowboys answered with a long touchdown drive to regain the lead. On that drive, Ezekiel Elliott looked the most in sync that he has looked to this point with the OL, and Dak Prescott showed his coolness and poise in converting a third down after a sack, and then improvising to score a touchdown by running it in. Heady heady stuff from the rookie.

The defense was leaky, and continuing to work the slow dance with the opposition offensive line. But, when they had to, they made plays. Barry Church with a huge interception. Tyrone Crawford with a sack from the DE position. Byron Jones running down Josh Doctson to prevent a long touchdown. Sean Lee stuffing Chris Thompson on a third and short run. They will give you heart attacks, but they did what they had to do when needed.

Other notes on the game:
  • What else can be said about Dak Prescott? The kid is easy to root for - he is remarkably poised, has great presence, and really went to school on where he came up short last week. He slowed things down mentally, and was very decisive and accurate with his throws. His throw to Cole Beasley on third and 11 on the go ahead touchdown drive in the 4th was a big time, clutch, veteran type of throw. I would like to see him push the ball further down the field, but if that's the worst thing that anyone has to say, then it shows how well he has done to this point.
  • It has been remarkable how well he has protected the football. He doesn't get flustered with bodies falling around him, and only one throw today had a chance of being picked. Outstanding recognition of the need to protect the football.
  • On the other end of the spectrum is Ezekiel Elliott. While he looked much more relaxed and disciplined in his running (after he found his footing following a tough first drive), he continues to show issues from a lack of work in camp. His burst and explosivenss have been lacking. More importantly, his ball security today was awful. Nothing will get you benched quicker than an inability to protect the football. Rightly so, he was benched after his second fumble. Elliott needs to get this handled, and quick. Being that he averaged one fumble every 162.5 touches at Ohio State, I think this is an anomaly.
  • Good to see Dez Bryant back involved in the offense. He abused Bashaud Breeland when he lined up opposite him. However, he couldn't shake Josh Norman at all when lined up against him. Needs to do better there.
  • Prescott running the bootleg is something to see. A number of very nice passes from that look, especially on the 4th and 1 to Geoff Swaim.
  • Terrance Williams must have been practicing getting out of bounds by staying on the sidelines, because he was invisible today.
  • Spotty effort by the OL. Overall, the protection was good, and there were some good running lanes today, especially when the Cowboys pressed the edges. However, they again struggled generating movement on many run downs, and Doug Free also had issues with pass protection. Tyron Smith has had better games as well.
  • The linebacker corps would be a complete disaster area if not for Sean Lee. Anthony Hitchens has been awful. Justin Durant had a few nice moments, and needs to be on the field more.
  • Morris Claiborne is a completely different player this season. Much more confident in himself. Actually participating in training camp is likely a huge factor.
  • Brandon Carr, on the other hand, he had a tough day today.
  • As much as I'm sure people killed Garrett for it, I loved the onside kick call. Loved it. It caught the Commanders completely off guard. The only thing is, we have found the one thing that Dan Bailey can't do. Ugly effort, but the defense came up big by holding the Commanders to a field goal.
  • As good as it is for the Cowboys to have gotten a win, the Commanders are not a good team. Cousins was pretty brutal today, and their defense is hot garbage.
1-1 looks a lot better than 0-2 with both losses in the division. This division will be up for grabs the whole year. Next will be the Bears on a short week for them, and that is a very winnable game. It looks like the Cowboys came out of the game pretty well injury wise, so it sets up well for them.

A victory is a victory and Garrett making bone-Headed decisions today like normal are two different things..

Apparently it's everyone else's fault when Garrett loses.. All last year, it was because Romo wasn't there.. TO, Dez not running proper routes, Romo audibling out of Garrett's playcalling, the defense, Hardy the lockerroom cancer.

Garrett homers and the victimization routine is always so predictable.. Complaining about having it both ways, while having it both ways..

-Tyron Smith looks stiff. I wonder if he's more hurt than we know.
-It sucks our best player on defense is not under contract next year. It will be interesting to see what this team does with Claiborne if he keeps this up.
-I pray Lee stays healthy b/c this lb core is horrendous. I've said my peace about Wilber, he was terrible today. There have to be players on the street better than these guys.
-Carr was good on the goal line, but there are times he looks like he's lost his passion for the game. His body language reminds me so much of Terence Newman after he got paid...nonchalant.
-Terrance Williams is retweeting every negative tweet being sent to him by fans. His confidence must be in the dumps considering this is a contract year for him.
