Clearly Sanchez is short term, but he's got to look at Romo and Dak and wonder about his chances to start - ever. But there are a lot worse things to be than a backup QB in the NFL.
He just came for a shot at a ring.

its cool.

The guy im all aboard on is the one starting now. I know hes a rookie 4th round pick. But for me when Romo got hurt what Dak did is what i expected him to do. Never once did i say uh oh. Romo's a very good qb, but he's had his time. His body is telling its time. JUst hope he looks at his future with his kids instead of seeing the short side view and put his health at risk.

No players claimed by Dallas.

Browns claimed five: RB George Atkinson, DB Briean Boddy-Calhoun, DB Marcus Burley, DE Tyrone Holmes, LB Corey Lemonier

Chargers claimed DB Pierre Desir (Browns), DT Caraun Reid (Lions), RB Andre Williams (Giants)

Titans claimed TE Jace Amaro (Jets).

***Signed to Cowboys practice squad***
C Jake Brendel
TE Rico Gathers
WR Andy Jones
LB Deon King
WR Vince Mayle
DE Ryan Russell
TE Austin Traylor
Pretty decent list so far

Well, this was pretty anticlimactic.

I'll say! I fully expected some waiver pickups and maybe a trade or two,,, and we got bupkis (no offense to Mark Sanchez). Given the precarious health of a few players I wonder if the team is keeping its powder dry while they wait for the other shoe to drop. Two metaphors in one sentence, no extra charge.

Cowboys cut WR Rodney Smith, who ran circles around Andy Jones and had a much better rapport with Dak Prescott. Yet it's Jones on PS.
WR Rodney Smith is a guy that I was interesting to see this preseason because of his measurable(s). I focused on him a bit in the ps games. He really didn't do much except for that one game (3rd ps game). He struggled to get open and struggled to catch the ball in the 1st two games. His route running was not very good most of the time.

Andy Jones didn't really do anything in the ps games either. The main difference is that he is a rookie while Rodney Smith has been around the NFL for 3 seasons.

I really like the potential of a guy that is 6-5 and runs a 4.4x forty, but he has had 3 years to figure out how to play in the NFL and he just hasn't done much.

Why does the media let them get away with just a blanket statement like this ?
Follow up, get into them about it - such crap journalism.

Bryan Broaddus did ask if the scouting department just didn't have anybody on the DL that they felt would be worth claiming yesterday.

Garrett: We talked about a lot of guys, not only on our defensive line but all across our team, we targeted some, studied them, scouts had lists for us, and then we as a coaching staff went in and made the decision not to try to add anybody, we like the guys we have on our team more going forward and we're going to give them an opportunity

The question and answer is at the 6:10 mark in the presser.

Jimmy Smith had to be cut several times before becoming one of best receivers of his era. Todd Christiansen became a HOFer after landing on 3rd team in as many years. DMVP James Harrison was cut 4 times. My point is not retaining Rodney Smith per se, it is having an evaluation system that weights game production higher than practice performance, pedigree and/or coach/scout/human bias.

Cowboys current system can certainly be improved. Without a great coaching staff or FO, remove as much subjective bias as possible.

Ok, so i went and watched the presser. More of the same, heres a perfect example of what Ive been saying. Both the BROADDUS QUESTION - no follow up from anyone. Then The Tapper question - Garrett says he wont practise again today. No follow up - what the hell is the real injury ? If he has had a shot, does he have a herniated disc ? And if so, how can you giys be so frickin dumb as to go so thin at DE????
They all seam to just let him gove an answer and move on. Weather anyone buys the answer or not !!! Drives me frickin crazy...
