If memory serves, Maher was great with very long FG's, however, he struggled with the shorter ones. Oh joy. Personally, I would prefer someone who is automatic from anywhere below 50 yards to someone who can kick it long.

I get the feeling we end up with 2 kickers on the roster. Harjrullahu is the consistent short yardage/XP guy. Meanwhile Maher can take the longer kicks and kickoff duties.

Not sure if the Cowboys have the roster flexibility for that, but it might make sense? Instead of one quality kicker, keep two who do a couple things well but cant do everything?

I'm not a fan of this, but in this situation, Maher is more valuable than a 6th receiver or corner.

That's a pretty good idea actually.

But I also think you're right about roster numbers. Tough to dress two K when you're trying not to use starters to cover kicks.

Personally I don't see why Liram can't do the job. We are lucky to have gotten him back IMO.
