If he is just geting his 7 mil cut to 2 mil, does that still make this franchise a joke? I mean for saving the 5 mil, not for any other reason you may have.

You wish it was cut 2 million/year. Should be 1.

2nd and 15's, 2nd and 20's.

That's all I can say.

I would think this is a pay-cut, not a siimple re-structure. Free has to know that if he is cut, he isn't getting anything on the open market. Vollmer is WAY better than him, and only got a little over 4 mil per year on his deal.
Vollmer's deal gave Dallas leverage. It could help with an outside signing as well.

Yes it still makes it a joke. He's a bad football player, period. The fact they are so accepting of his mediocrity is embarrassing. There was a time long ago when this franchise wouldn't allow this type of soft puss anywhere near the facility. I don't want to EVER see this bum in a Cowboys uniform again...I don't give two you know whats if he even wants to play for FREE.

The guy makes the team WORSE. Why would you pay anyone who is a deterrment to your team/offense?

Keep defending the idiotic decisions by our terrible GM

No offense, but if you don't understand that there is a significant difference, then I really don't know what to say to you. There's a cliff right over there for your preemptive jump.

First of all, this is just a strawman
U have no idea what his salary will be

And even if it is 2 mill, will he give up his roster spot as well?

The excuse making is just getting nauseous

OK, so... Lets say we do cut Doug Free.

What is your next step?
Draft Fluker or pick up Winston. Do anything but bring back this worthless bum. For the love of God, aren't you guys tired of seeing him whiff over and over and over and over again???

Even Parnell (who I like) would be a huge upgrade over Free.

This is from Rotoworld:

Cowboys RT Doug Free will restructure his contract.
In this case, the "restructuring" will be a straight pay-cut, and a significant one. Free is one of the most overpaid players in the league at his current $7 million salary. Free will have to fight with Jermey Parnell for a starting job in camp. He could also be shifted inside to guard. Mar 27 - 1:35 PM

Once Vollmer accepted a lessor deal, Free's camp had to take a big pay cut.

I still don't like it. But Parnell almost surely beats him out.

Why not? A pay cut may be more beneficial our cap situation moreso than a straight cut.

Rotoworld? Have we not learned not to trust Rotoworld yet?

Notice in that link where they talk about how the restructure will go and use the source Adam Schefter and yet Adam Schefter's tweet has non of those details other than the Cowboys will restructure Free's Contract.

When you say Rotoworld you should do so while Channeling Mora saying Playoffs?!
