Wow I didn't realize the Saints cut him already. I still think he would be a good guy to have for depth, regardless of whether he has played for the Saints this year or not.

The Saints cut him because he had no explosiveness. He was healthy, per se, but got used. It was a two week experiment that went bad.

What are the odds that we sign McCallister and the first play he pulls a hammy?

Not that that would ever happen.

I saw him regularly up here in Baltimore. His last 2-3 years were average at best. He was also a bit of disruption w/the team.

I say pass. Continue the "youth movement."

LOL at some of the Mickey Spags in this thread.

No one is saying he'll take us to the superbowl but IMO he's just as valuable as a good secondary coach if all else fails.

He might not have the ability to be a playmaker but at least he could maybe give suggestions to our secondary. open up some doors.

I'd like if we signed him. he's a smart veteran who could only help the young guys in the secondary at the very least.

help them do what?

New Orleans pass defense isnt very good and they've had alot of injuries in their secondary, the fact they cut him already tells you everything you need to know IMO

Maybe he can help us stop giving up 3rd and 10+

If that was a concern for this team, they should seriously consider not having our DB's line up 12 yards off the LOS.

If you are hoping that McAlister can do that then you are in real trouble. The Saints learned first hand what he cannot do and would take advantage of that all game.

McAlister was cut after the Skins game. Jason Campbell and Devin Thomas had their best performance in their NFL career.

and use a different strategy against the Saints.

I'd come out with a nickel defense as the base defense, and play it as much as possible. I'd line up only one ILB ( either Brady or Brookings ) at a time and I'd invite the Saints to try to run the ball down our throats. Rotate Brady and Brookins every series to keep them fresh.

I believe that if the Saints don't throw the ball down field, they get desperate. I saw it against Washington. They can run the ball, but they don't want to do that. They want to Arena football the game, which is Sean Peyton's style and Bree's preference. I'd frustrate the hell out of them by dropping 2 deep safeties to prevent the big play, replace either Brady or Brooking with a DB, and have that DB assigned to Reggie Bush. If Reggie Bush is not on the field, then have him patrol the underneath territory, helping either OLB with the TE, or another DB with the slot receiver.

But I read that we never, ever brought in potential churn candidates on Fridays...

Really, pretty funny that we'd work out one guy from the Saints offense and one from the Saints defense. Might as well look for any edge. ;)
Good thing this is Thursday then.

I am greedy for McAllister to sign. I admit it.

I see nothing bad that can come out of this. Dallas has a very young secondary and could use a vet. Wouldn't cost much.

:laugh2: you always act like because a player was cut they're useless. he could help the young guys(scandrick,Jenkins, ball) in the film room, technique, etc. it's not like he's signing a 5 year 50 million dollar contract.

So? their safeties and lb's have alot of picks, not their CB's...and they've had alot of guys injured at CB too

They rank towards the bottom of the league in total defense and yards allowed...people have been moving the ball on them on the ground and through the air.
