Twitter: Cowboys work out Davin Joseph

I think the boys will wait until after the draft and if they get nothing for the interior you will see them looking hard again. I just hope they do not go dumpster diving like they did last time.

If you wait until after the draft, you are dumpster diving.

There might be the veteran guard depth we are looking for. Would help take one more position off the "critical" need list.

I pulled up the week 17 game of 2013 to review his play. I also pulled up a game from 2011 for comparison.

He was far from "terrible" in 2013.

His quickness in 2013 remained surprisingly good. His movements were a little stiff, but generally OK. His primary problem was anchoring in Pass Pro against a Bull-rush. He has a natural tendency to get upright in Pass Pro, but in 2011 with his size and strength it didn't really matter; however, in 2013 he didn't have the same strength and got Bull-rushed several times. He did generally stay in front of the rusher and give the QB time to get rid of the ball or step away from the Bull-rush but it was obviously not what you would prefer.

He naturally keeps his pads lower in run blocking and the injury didn't appear to be a big problem in that area. He was a little stiff in breaking down on 2nd level open field blocks.

He appeared a little heavy in 2013 compared to 2011.

My guess is that he will be OK in 2014 if he gets into good physical condition and keeps his weight at the 2011 level.

Not sure why you quoted me when you mentioned him being terrible. I think he fits the bill perfectly.

No harm in taking a look, and I'm sure the price would not be prohibitive. If healthy, he could be the best guard on the roster.

Would live to sign him for a 2/3 year deal. Would sure up our line in my mind. Smith/Leary(or Bearn)/Frederick/Joseph/Free = best line we've had in a decade lol

Broaddus said on twitter this week that they were'nt signing him FWIW.

Well, that tells me that the team is being smart. They won't just sign a name because he used to be good... like I think they would do at times in their past.

He probably doesn't have the athleticism anymore and the team passed.

Thanks for the update. I thought it good have been a good cheap signing. reasonably young for an OL that could have strengthen the inside. Maybe the really focusing on G/T in the draft.

Those days are over. We've turned the page and moved on. Thank goodness.

I've gotten the feeling from some guys that they've worked out in the past couple of years, that they don't like street free agents that have not kept themselves in shape.

We signed Hargrove and he was an out of shape lump of garbage we ended up cutting.

That was a free look. They kept him 1 month and 4 days and he didn't get any money for being on the team during May/June.

And? He was street free agent who didn't keep himself in shape. Kind of makes your theory a little suspect.

It does if you can prove that being out of shape was the reason that he was cut.

Nick Eatman of the Cowboys' official website reported Thursday that Hargrove was released. The team later confirmed the move. Hargrove was signed May 16, but there were some suggestions from offseason practices that Hargrove was not in NFL-ready shape. We read similar reports about Hargrove's conditioning in training camp last year when he was with the Green Bay Packers.

I will wait for you to say this does not "prove" anything.
