Why on earth would u believe they are giving Odell a large long term deal when this FO is known to be cheap with free agents?
One, I have no idea what kind of contract they would give him. I am just laying out my reasoning why I can't get too excited about any potential OBJ acquisition.

I don't trust Jerry. Every once in a while Jerry does something dumb especially when he's gaga over some player (usually his own). They also know they have to get more weapons for Dak and WR is slim pickings in FA for that kind of upper level WR. I think they were shell shocked a bit about how poorly he looked in the San Fran game (and at times down the stretch of the regular season). OBJ was said to be holding out for a large/longer term contract just last year. Did I say I don't trust Jerry?

If the big move is OBJ on some one year, prove it deal, for even like $7-8 million? Fine by me. OBJ for 3 years, $40 million? Yeah, that's a hold your breath move for me.

What if the big news is that they are placing the franchise tag on Pollard and will have his services in 2023.

A new art gallery? A new vendor for the snack bar? Ahh, maybe a new parking lot!

Guaranteed this has nothing to do with the team or any players

He’s got better guarantees than that already.
I saw your above comment about DHop and wearing out his welcome.

I dont think that is totally fair. He went thru hell in Houston and laughed at the GM they fired (the one that traded him).

Arizona he has had great seasons in, but him and KK didnt get along. And apparently no one likes Murray so you cant really blame the guy for wanting to leave.

On the plus side. Trading a second for a guy who missed 6 games and still put up better stats than our "number 2" playing with 4 different QBs is definitely worthit. IMO

There may have been other factors, but I stand by my statement. The first thing he got in Arizona was more money and a contract extension. That wasn’t merely coincidental. It was why he was traded out of Houston.

And now Arizona is looking to trade him because he wants more money.

It’s certainly not lack of talent that’s getting him traded around.

Every year at this time the Cowboys are supposedly working on something big. It’s just Jerry blowing smoke trying to keep the fans interested and the Cowboys in the spotlight.

Then they should have traded for AJ Brown before the Eagles did.
Not so easy.
I noticed a couple of folks liked your comment too.
Hey, we'd all love to have gotten AJ, but we can't just wave a wand and the rest of the NFL gets out of the way because we want something.

Philly used the 18th and 101st picks to get him.
PLUS they gave him a 4 year 100 million dollar contract

We MAYBE could have topped their offer by using our 1st and 2nd rounders, plus the 100 million. But maybe even then, they might have thought our pick (24th) was too low to get the player they wanted at 18 (Burk)

So, would you trade Tyler Smith and Sam Williams...plus 100 million to get Brown?

Something BIG? Guess the first thing I think about is a trade. WHY, we know they are going to extend Dak, we know they are going to rework several contracts, and we know that the franchise tag will be used (probably on Pollard unless they can sign him before free agency, and if so then probably franchise Schultz again), and we know that Zeke is going to be offered a reduced salary or cut. We will resign some of our own free agents and best guess would be Wilson, LVE, Noah Brown, Dante Fowler, Anthony Barr and Cooper Rush who be the ones they target although not all of them.

So none of those are what I call to be something BIG because we already know that they are working on them. That leaves the trade option. Now will it be on defensive or offensive, and there is where we have to believe would be getting value they don't believe will be available when they draft. Can't see it being the OL because that will probably be a mid round draft pick. It won't be a QB or RB or TE which only leaves WR for someone complement CeeDee. On defense, unless they are willing to trade for Da'Ron Payne with Washington then the DL is out. At LB, could see them resigning LVE or signing Deion Jones in free agency, Quinn really likes Jones. At safety, other than Wilson who is a free agent, it is in pretty good shape with Kearse, Hooker, Bell, and Mukuamu and the possiblity we resign Wilson. That leaves CB with really Diggs and Bland with Joseph and Wright as backups.

If it is really a BIG something, then probably trading for Jalen Ramsey CB who has 3 years left on his contract and would be a $17 million cap hit in 2023. Cowboys could rework or extend him to lower the number. What would the cost be? Probably our 1st round but not much more as Rams need to release him or trade him for cap purposes. Could also see them trading for Hopkins WR out of Arizona but probably get him for a 3rd in 2023 and 4th in 2024. Another WR that the Jones have always thought about is Mims from the Jets and you could get him easily for a 5th or 6th this year.

So lets say the Jones are all in sort of this year, getting Ramsey would make your secondary way, way better and getting Hopkins make your WR corp elite. Sign Pollard to a 3 year deal, sign Wilson to a 3/5 year deal, franchise Schultz once again, sign either LVE or Deion Jones at MLB, and resign Anthony Brown to a one year deal and possibly sign a DL in FA and a RB like Penny in FA. Then for SAG, say Jalen Carter DL falls to the 2nd due to his character and off field problems would be a perfect Jones pick in the 2nd, get Steve Avila OG TCU in the 4th. Suddenly your team defense is elite and your offense has great weapons for Dak and with a good/great OL.

Something BIG? Right now, just wishful thinking and hope for we poor fans!!

Oh. From what your saying I don’t think the Cowboys pay him then. CeeDee is going to get close to 27 million a season. To be honest they better sign CeeDee before Jefferson or the Cowboys are screwed.
